Move short range ships
I've been playing the game now for 8 months, I've yet to win one, but I am addicted...
I've noticed that in the British theatre I have ML (motor launches) and other short range craft up in the north. I've yet to figure out how to move them anywhere useful with their 500 range. The next available port is beyond their range.
How do you move these to somewhere they can be useful if they don't have the range to get there?

RE: Move short range ships
You can mix a ship with longer range into the TF, they can refuel underway.

I'm relatively new with the game, but two possibilities come to my mind:
1. form a TF of ML, then set the homeport of the TF the nearest port in the direction you want to have them, then click on "return to homeport". They will move then to that port. If out of fuel, they keep on moving to the homeport with the speed of one hex every day till being there.
2. You create a replenish TF and replenish the ML on their way.

Easier to just setup a tf with a ship with long legs....GP

some of them, and the motor gunboats as well, have some of the highest ASW ratings available to the Allies in '42.....

You can put xAKs out as waypoints for refueling other tfs. Won't work for subs though.

If a ship out of fuel moves it takes damage. So a long run without fuel will cripple a ship eventually.

True, I forgot about that [8|], so only an emergency solution to cover short distances.

It will also sink when damage to any of the 3 systems, Float, system or engine, reaches 100....GP

Do you realize how uneconomical it is to waste a Type 93 torpedo on such a dinky craft ...... The financial types will not be happy
And they are great bait for torpedo carrying Netties and Kates!
RE: Move short range ships
It was these little motor launches that carried out the St. Nazaire raid.

That is a good idea (in general). What about a tanker? One can also get help from TF's incidentally passing
by.

Ditto. The easiest but use escort when doing it as it its all ship types.
Also, you can port hop around India provided the ports have fuel. You don't need much for MLs.
RE: Move short range ships
Only if the waypoint is a port. TKs can transfer their own bunker fuel to other ships at sea, but not their cargo fuel. Heck, they can't even refuel themselves from their cargo fuel until they get to a port!ORIGINAL: Leandros
