Fixing Praying Mantis

Post by Eboreg »

My frustration with the Praying Mantis scenario has been well-documented on this forum but I've just decided to stop moaning about it and actually do something. The fixed version I've attached has Collective Responsibility turned off for the Americans but the Soviet Union will take efforts to defend themselves and if any of their ships get damaged, they will retaliate. Now to see the community try to break it.

What issues? I don't recall anyone ever mentioning anything wrong with the scenario.

Dawn Strike, Operation Praying Mantis, and Act of War are key examples of this problem with Old Grudges Never Die being legendary in its Charlie Foxtrot potential.

1) Method of ordering aircraft to jettison fuel tanks. (Really useful when commanding stealth fighters)
2) Add a choice of jettisoning wing tanks when attacking to the Jettison Ordnance doctrine. (For stealth fighters under AI control)
3) Add "Verify Guided Weapons" doctrine that, when turned on, makes sure the side does not assume that all guided weapons launched are hostile. (For multi-sided operations such as "Old Grudges Never Die")
4) Add Side/Postures setting telling a side to not declaring hostilities on any neutral/unfriendly side that has attacked a friendly side. (To allow a side to provide friendly reconnaissance but not fire support)

You obviously are not reporting them correctly. Searching Praying Mantis in the Tech Support shows only one thread by you, on an unrelated topic.

Let me be clear, if you want things fixed you need to report correctly. That means a new topic for each issue within the Tech Support forum. If you want to do a catch all thread for scenarios, I'm ok with that. But posting your issues in threads that are not related or in the wrong place will not get them fixed.

Alright, I'll see what kind of feedback my altered version gets then put it in the Tech Support thread.
