German MG Battalion manpower

MOTORIZED
The following is only about the Motorized Battallion [OB:575], which only has one OB throughout the game. It starts with too little Men initially 587Men instead of 1018Men in 1941. Further the change in Equipment and manpower (at the latest in 1944) is missing which would put it to 942Men. There are unmotorized TOEs but I suppose they have to be kept separate.

1941 see Book 3/II page 61 for KSTNs and setup.

• Staff: 19Men
• Staffcompany: 206Men [8xHMG]
• Heavy Company: 175Men [6x3,7cm Pak + 6x8cm Mortar (back then called heavy Mortar I guess)]
• 3xMG Company or here: 206Men each (3x = 618Men) total: [36xHMG + 9xPzB + 9x5cm Mortar]

=1018Men (in game 587)

1944

• Staff+Staffcompany, KSTN 120 (01.05.1944): 201Men [8xHMG]
• Heavy Company, KSTN 167 (01.01.1945 - 01.05.1944 is missing): 159Men [6x3,7cm Pak + 6x8cm Mortar]
• 3xMG Company, KSTN 166 (01.05.1944): 194Men each (3x = 582Men) total: [36xHMG + 12xPanzerschreck + (36xRifle Grenade)] → the former 5cm Mortars were "replaced" by Rifle Grenades, of which the three Companies had a total of 36. The game lacks Rifle grenade Squads, but this and several other TOEs make a 3Men-3Rifle Grenade Squad a multiple times used Squad if added.

To give an comparison (different motorization), but it is rather unlikely for germans to have formations with equal/worse "support" then the Soviets have. So pretty obvious error numbers in German TOEs.

As reported here already, the game is missing the units using all of the static ground-attack Flak [OB:580, OB:581] MG Battalions - they pretty quickly on 9.Nov.1944 were renamed into Fortress Flak Battalions. About ~30 SUs missing (at first glance).

No real differences can be seen at first glance to the 1941 variants which could indicate/explain the lower manpower in game.

Those are the companies in regular Divisions's Battalions (like the 4th, 8th, 12th companies). Sometimes called "MG Companies", sometimes "Heavy Companies" - not exactly sure what determines the naming (usually 1944+ it's rather called "heavy", but there were "heavy companies" also earlier already....sooo...).

Atatched is the KSTNs for the MG Company and the Heavy Company. It has the normal
3xPioneer
3xBicycle
So the Commanders must have made some changes on the fly I'd assume. There are no listed reworked KSTNs at least and no reference towards another KSTN.

But all the Festungs MG Battalions are missing anyways, so... (~70+SUs)
And the "super heavy Festungs MG Battalions" → renamed Festungs Flak Battalions are missing as well. (~30+SUs).

Okay, so just an oddity they created independently creating more squads...or they just added more LMGs then allocated, showing 4 or 6...
