New Scenario for Testing -- The Battle of the Eger, 1986

Post by Mgellis »

New beta for testing...

It's 1986 and you need to make a surprise attack against the Soviets so they won't be able to make a surprise attack tomorrow. All you have to do is blow up some bridges. Simple, right?

As always, please let me know what you think. Is there anything that needs to be improved with...

* Briefing
* Scenario description
* Events
* Scoring
* Units chosen and their placement (I used the OpenTopo map to find where buildings near the bridges were located)...any changes recommended for the aircraft, etc. each side has available?
* General difficulty (I have it rated as three...should be higher?)

...and anything else you can think of that might make this more interesting, more fun, or more challenging?

Thanks in advance!

Nice Cold War stuff 8-)

I looked at it briefly and will do it again with more time this week.

Some things to think about:

-The intell picture of NATO is empty at the start of the scenario and you need the RF-4 Phantoms to discover the bridges. Can the bridges be set to auto detection? A bridge and infrastructure is known ;-)

-The NATO terrictory is without any Air defense, what makes the MiG-29's easy to roam around and do anything they like.
I do not want to bring in my own stuff but you can use West-Germany Cold War - 1989 (single unit airfields) from the workshop to fil in your area of operations and delete the rest if you want to.

-Warshau Pact BVR tactics where to go straight in and not to crank.

Just some thoughts to punder about.
Thanx for sharing and a challenging setup!

The bridges actually are auto-detect (I think all non-mobile facilities are). But there is a lot of clutter with the various neutral buildings surrounding the bridges so you need to zoom in to find them. But they should just be there.

Good call about air defense. I will do a bit of research and add some appropriate sites.

I'll set up the Warsaw Pact tactics as per your advice. Thanks.
