Re: Advice Needed: Port Moresby

They can invade but they will need to supply the invasion unless they bring enough supply with them to last. I am not sure the AI does this. To do this will require a significant force to protect them. Of course, if they park KB off PM, not much can be done but there are too many other places for KB ...

Re: Advice Needed: Port Moresby

I may be too late to the party but....

Use small xAKs in single ship task forces. They die if they meet a surface group but they are harder to spot than a large convoy.

Submarine supply will get some through but not much. I don't think it will be enough though. With the allied torps early in the ...

Re: Pink background with white and yellow letters

I think that's {changing from autorun} got it. Though the first time I tried it, had a black screen of death that I could not even pull up Task Manager. Tried it again in case it was a computer oops and this seemed to do the trick.

Thank You

I think my wife may not be so happy though.

Re: Pink background with white and yellow letters

Turning transparency off did not change anything.

I tried going to windowed mode and no change.

I added f to the back of the px/py.

Re: Pink background with white and yellow letters

Thank You!

Command switches are: -fd -altFont -cpu2 -multiaudio -px1920 -py1080 -deepColor -skipvideo

Oops. the whole command line is "C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\autorun.exe" -fd -altFont -cpu2 -multiaudio -px1920 -py1080 -deepColor -skipvideo

I have not tried windowed ...

Re: Bombarding your own port?

It helps if the port is big enough to reload your ships. You will want CAP if you are within range of enemy aircraft.

Re: Pink background with white and yellow letters

New computer {W11}. Old one died. I think this is the sixth new laptop where WITP is the first game installed.

My problem is green fields. I have -deepColor and I added the -dd_sw switch and no change.

Mine shows up after alt-tab during a combat report {running a turn} to do add to my notes ...

Sheesh! 40?!? By the 5th hit she'll have fires, by the 7th or 8th hit the fires are already big enough that she will be 50-50 sinking. And if they are 1000lb-ers that the DB's carry, forget it. By the 5th hit the fires will be unsurmountable due to the sys damage. That's assuming there hasn ...

Re: Struggling with Air Superiority

Keep Fatigue down. You can try a CAP trap. Move your carriers close enough to be seen and let him attack you. Set your fighters a little higher than his bombers will come in. This will only work early as the Allies will soon have so many airframes that they can afford losses.

This is dangerous ...

Re: Keeping track of submarine/submarine commander scores

My first boat fishing trip was on the "Finback" out of Bodega Bay {North of SF}. I was 11. We caught a lot of fish.

I keep track of the U.S.S. Finback. I note her arrivals, departures and ships sunk. Easy to do with just one.

Re: Defending Burma (vs AI)

Build up Rangoon Port Size till it can support cruisers. Move the RN cruisers in and have them park at Rangoon with bombardment orders. When they finally retreat, you can follow them all the way down the coast with the cruisers. Combined with ground attack by the air forces at Rangoon for that ...

4K monitors do not work...or at least mine didn't. Not even the command line changes did anything. Not even setting the game resolution in the command line to 1920x1080 worked.

Once I changed the monitor resolution to 1920x1080, it worked far better than I had ever imagined. Before this, the ...

Re: Hard difficulty buffs for A.I.

So historical level is the only level that is realistic?
I am switching my game to historical, I cant have Jap A.I. carrier groups parking themselves in my front yard and bombing everything in the area for weeks without needing to withdraw!

It all works out. I "won" on DEC 16 44 on Historical ...

Re: Hard difficulty buffs for A.I.

It's been a couple of years since I played {just starting again}. So this is from memory.

Hard gets a bonus to supply. I do not know if the carriers get more sorties before being out of supplies. I think that if this was the case, someone would've figured it out and it would have been posted. I do ...

Re: Windows and WITPAE fighting for control of screen

Thank You.

This is exactly my problem. I had it fixed and when I come back to AE, the problem returns. I could not understand why. Windows updates makes sense as the cause. I had put a period at the end of "sense", reread it and added "as the cause". Better this way.

I had toyed with windows ...

CVE task force following the protected tf. If it is in the same hex, the CVEs will operate at full efficiency even if shallow water. This will provide air protection and the bombers can be placed on ASW patrol. They have to train for ASW to really make a difference but more eyes are always better ...

I've been playing since UV. WITP was in development by the time I got into UV and only discovered it because it was in a store. I take a break now and then but I always come back and continue playing. I read more than post but I have been hanging around since 2003, I think.

I am always saddened to ...

I had this happen with another game that I thought shouldn't be too graphically taxing. Turned out to be an Nvidia Geforce Experience issue, for some reason it thought that game needed max graphics settings, including fan speed. After playing with the settings didn't seem to help, I ended up ...

Re: Laptop fans switch to high speed on start

3840x2160 is native.

In Display Settings it is set for 200% in Change the size of text, apps and other items. Not sure if this is what you want.

The in game menus are all easily seen. Some games are not and at 4K, my nearly 60 year old eyes cannot make out anything in the menus.
