I bought a separate computer to sit next to my primary machine and display spreadsheets and notes..

spreadsheet is in ms excel organized by HQ. I use hubs in each HQ and distribute supplies/troops and requests via these HQ's.

what's the point of getting a new copy?

I installed the new 1.806 patch and WITP would crash on start with a "999 error"

It wouldn't move past the loading screen...

Had to completely reinstall the entire party...

I suppose i should wait for a cumulative update instead.

I was concerned that WITP was not going to be compatible with Windows Vista. However, WITP not only runs on Windows Vista, it appears to run faster than on XP with the same hardware... sweet.
