Stealing

<t> There *really* ought to be a steal-success rating to go with a steal-attempt rating. Maybe include a new stat for next year like "intelligence" that encapsulates this. A more intelligent runner will better know when to hold up or take the extra base. Perhaps this rating could give a boost to a ...

RE: 1998 Through 2071 Almanac

How did homeruns look in year 15 or so? Seriously. I'm hoping and praying that they didn't leap like Carl Lewis on a windy day.

RE: For Shaun

All WHIP is is walks + hits per innings pitched. It's a roto-league stat. The first I saw of it, in fact, was in an old Rotisserie League handbook. Interesting tidbit: one of the creators of that "game" is NY Times ombudsman Daniel Okrent.

RE: Noob question -- historical rookies

There's a mod of the Lahman database that allows you to import players their age-18 years rather than their debut seasons. I'm not sure whether or not this would work with PS, but it's worth a try. Do a google search on "Gambo database".

RE: Anyone buying PS and OOTP?

<t> Both PS and OOTP have their good and bad points. I pre-ordered OOTP and (obviously) bought PS. I think it's a good idea to support both if you can, because if you do then both developers will eventually make them even better.<br/>

I'll just re-iterate my biggest problem with the PS AI ...

RE: Evaluating Talent

<t> Since this game plays a lot like FPS: Baseball Pro... yes, a CH 90 player will be a better hitter than a CH 80 guy, all things being equal, but all things are never equal. The scouts are designed, I think, to look at the interplay between CH and PH and eye and speed and figure out from that who ...

RE: So, Does Pure Sim Fulfill Your Needs?

<t> I'd really like to get better access to WP, HBP, and PB data for pitchers, and SH and SF data for hitters. It'll help to get eras even more right.<br/>
<br/>
I would also really, really like to have more control over pitcher usage in the XML. Right now, no matter what other settings you make ...

Deadball Era XML 2k7

<t> What's different between this XML and the one I created for 2k5:<br/>
<br/>
- It's got the 2k7 stuff in there so you can, um, use it and stuff.<br/>
<br/>
- Tweaked the league results so it's (hopefully) even more accurate than before.<br/>
<br/>
- Errors, errors, and more errors! As many ...

RE: Deadball Era XML v0.5

In the last version, I also upped the injuries, but for pitchers that also wreaked some havoc with IPs/start. Please adjust those back down to 0.72 for pitchers only; for now, keep hitters' injuries up.

<t> So far as I know, no there isn't. This is a brand new game so as of yet it doesn't have all the support stuff that other titles on the market do. However, it's also quite a bit more customizeable than all the other games, so don't be surprised if within the next couple years, what's out there ...

RE: What are you currently playing?

<t> I like to play in what I call "God Mode", where I control all the teams and make roster decisions for them, set lineups, etc. Very rarely do I actually play the games, and when I do I use a method developed by Eugene Church over in OOTP: I sim until the 7th inning and take over at that point ...
