Re: Gary Grigsby’s Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich - Update v1.06.92

It was changed a few patches ago so that only intruders with bombs will do the opportunity targeting at night. So in BTR that is just the Black Widow. In BoB that is most of the nightfighters.

The reason for taking it out is that it usually caused far more negative effects to the attacking side ...

Re: BTR General Questions

Wow, sorry I missed this.

July 1944 is the benchmark month where the Allies are in a make-or-break situation, and you have to plan ahead for it. Basically you should try to rack up the easy industry points while you can by targeting France Belgium and Netherlands targets. When Mandatory Overlord ...

Re: AREA damage

Area targets have a Rail damage and capacity component separate from the "area" damage. A few times each turn each industry does a check to find the nearest rail center, with larger rail capacity centers having a slightly more weighted draw. If that rail center is damaged, the output of the industry ...

Reinforcement timing

This screenie is from the "Blue Dragons fight back" scenario. The reinforcements are scheduled for turn 998 and 999?

What does that mean exactly?

Re: Air Unit Cannot Be Selected / Found

I have a similar situation - playing allies in big campaign 1944-45 . Have reached mid-June 1944 . Game consistently inform per turn that free italian units are assigned to.. but no airforce follows and units not shown in unitlist nor found on map? Any explanations to this or a bug?

sorry I ...

Re: How old are the average Wargamers here?

I remember watching my older brother playing Panzerblitz in 1970 when I was 9. I unknowingly recognized that what he was doing would be a future source of dopamine for me. I was playing Gettysburg and Midway by age 11 and had an S&T subscription soon after. Bro went on to work for AH and now is part ...

Re: Produced aircraft are not going into pool

DWatson60, all good points about R&D; admittedly EDBTR's current version is somewhat abstracted.

The Matrix version of the manual has not been updated since the initial 2009-2010 releases. However, the "what's new" document that comes updated with each patch is a must-read and an invaluable source ...

Re: Produced aircraft are not going into pool

You already achieved a breakthrough with the 219, which moves the availability date closer by one month. When the progress reaches 100% again, another breakthrough occurs and you move it closer by another month, and so on until your current turn month is the same as the new availability date. Then ...

Re: Produced aircraft are not going into pool

The changes in research were done by harley, and I left them alone. So It no longer makes sense to build 100's of aircraft to improve research. You build 10 and that's what the scientist guys play with. Getting to a research breakthrough is somewhat randomized but nothing is going to happen until ...

Re: Produced aircraft are not going into pool

You can produce airframes, parts, engines etc. for future aircraft. You only need to produce 10 complete aircraft (prototypes) for research purposes, and any more than that go to waste and will not show up in your pools.

Re: Beginner's enquiries

It sounds like you are figuring it out. An attack from a well placed patrol near the coast can cause the main escorts to jettison their tanks, and then you can effectively bounce the bombers with the FW's and Me410's deeper into Germany. That said, don't be too concerned about industry damage in ...

Best to read the production manual included with the game. It's in the "manuals" folder.

Re: DXWnd made easy

There are some good tips on this page: https://forums.matrixgames.com/viewtopic.php?t=333695&start=40
other suggestions:

Run dxwnd and just highlight the icon, then start the game from the normal game menu, or find btr.exe on your hard drive and run as administrator.

Make sure the path to the btr ...

Re: DXWnd made easy

If you can't get it to work through dxwnd you can start it up normally and toggle on "windowed" mode in the options and play it that way.

Instead of just declaring it broken, some additional information would be helpful. The OP has not responded to my latest query so maybe you will?

If you can get to the options menu, what happens when you toggle the "direct draw software emulation" button?

Toggle the option on, then restart the game as instructed. On relaunch the option is unchecked in the settings no change in artifatcing issue.
