Re: EDBTR 1.06.102 beta Ready for Download

Small update after the 1st night raid following the Hotfix. c. 750 bombers against Emden, Oldenburg and Wilhelmshaven. 28 bombers losses. NF's still attacking in pairs though which I thought the above says they wouldn't be?

Re: Excessive Losses?

You can continue existing games/PBEM with the beta. Just make sure both of you load it.

EDBTR 1.06.102 beta Ready for Download

This beta addresses the issues with excessive losses during night fighter interception in BTR.

1. NF interceptors no longer fly in pairs, they will split into individual NF's like the earlier versions.
2. Enemy aircraft detection is slightly less effective.

If you are playing PBEM, make sure both ...

Re: Excessive Losses?

Guys, I will make some adjustments to night-fighter interceptions and issue a hotfix. It won't effect your PBEM's but just make sure your opponent also install sit. Stay tuned.

All the old graphics come with the game patches. You can swap out what you want from the ART folders.

Re: Excessive Losses?

What has been your experience playing the RAF against the Luftwaffe AI?

I'm not convinced that there is some level of skill issue with the comments I am seeing here and from others. Not that I am some great player myself, but the human player can tend to be more reckless than historical commanders ...

Re: Final day

GEE and Oboe only have a range of 300-350 miles from the coast of England. You have some pathfinders early on with H2S radar which has unlimited range. Use these for the lead flight.

Try not to fly in bad (>40% and definitely not >60%) weather. The frequency of bad weather seemed to be the biggest ...

Yes. It helps differentiate the same successive messages as they appear.

Re: PBEM - different computers

you should be fine as long as you copy the file "btruser.dat" in the "DAT" folder to the same location on your other computer.

Always good to keep a backup of that file around.

Re: Turn back problem

It turns out that Philshaw is referencing the tendency for individual bombers that are flying at very high altitudes to head back to base due to icing damage. Bad weather greatly amplifies this damage.

This effect has always been in the code, but after reading some sources (Masters of the Air for ...

Re: Gary Grigsby’s Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich - Update v1.06.101

With the new official 1.06.101 i'm seeing it working fine for all raids.

After you finish the plot, start a new mission, select a primary target, and select follow. The button will only appear if there is actually a set of waypoints to follow from a previous mission.

Re: Plane crashes

Bad weather over your bases is the biggest factor in crashes of damaged aircraft for both sides. Try to take a break once in a while, especially if the next day weather forecast shows an improvement.

Re: Turn back problem

I assume you are playing with the latest official patch 1.06.101? Are the turnbacks showing up all of a sudden?

Whatever causes the turn back issues (which by all accounts was thought to be fixed) has nothing to do with anything you can possibly imagine. It has stymied all programmers of this game ...

Re: Updated to v1.06.101 without backing up my btuser.dat file and now my pbem isn't loading. Is there a fix to this?

I tried recreating one with a hex editor, but there is a special security character that is unique to each file.

Do a search for btruser.dat on your root (C:) drive, Windows may have stored a copy. Otherwise you are out of luck.

Re: Am I out of luck with BTR...?

Version 1.00 should be shunned and exiled to the cyber-wasteland. Matrix will likely make the current version the legacy version to replace 1.00.

First, patch up to 1.06.101 and take some time to read the "whatsnew" document. EDBTR is an old horse and will not run well on any computer that has an ...

Re: Gary Grigsby’s Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich - Update v1.06.101

CMO provided the inspiration to add some of the new features of the EDBTR resurrection project like tracking fuel/rearm and launch/readiness time for the defending side.

I can't imagine playing the WW2 strategic bombing campaign or even Battle of Britain on the CMO platform though... whew!

With ...

Re: Game won't start after patch

Thank you for that. And I see that running as administrator did nothing as well.

Since I was able to successfully install the .101 patch over a clean version of 1.00, your issue is beyond my level of debug expertise. My only suggestion is that your anti-virus software may be halting it's execution ...
