RE: Submarines - Bit too underwhelming?

<r> Nah not offended. To be fair I did think about resurrecting the thread, however in effect its the same issue and I thought I'd found a solution.<br/>
(I'm not so sure now, i.e. the Russian Sonar's are getting the effect of active pinging when they aren't.)<br/>

Been retesting the same ...

RE: Torpedoes

<t> <br/>
Well I'm going with that there is an issue as far as I can see.<br/>
<br/>
I've tried a 1987 date Nimitz Class vs a 1987 Los Angeles class.<br/>
<br/>
In the end I fired ten Mark 48 model 4 torpedoes into the Nimitz.<br/>
<br/>
On the tenth hit the Nimitz sank which probably raises ...

RE: Torpedoes

<r> Well, I've done some testing and not sure if I am helping!<br/>
<br/>
I'm using Steam so to be fair the version is 1147.4<br/>
<br/>
Fired 4 ADCAP from a Los Angeles into a Kusnetsov. The damage looks OK, roughly 20% per torpedo hit. However it didn't sink and very quickly the report came ...

[Logged] Torpedoes

<t> Anyone know if there is a known issue with Torpedo damage at present?<br/>
Sorry for the vague posting, I can narrow it down more if it needs a bug report, but noticing it anecdotally with my admittedly Steam version.<br/>
Put six torpedoes into a Midway class carrier earlier and did half ...

RE: New Scenario - Offensive CAP Belarus

Looked to be an unusual scenario and think the balance is right overall.
I ended up using the Typhoon's in one patrol, ran out of Meteor's reasonably rapidly but also got in some ASRAAM' kills.
Ended on a score of 29 for a minor victory.
Nicely worked out.

AAR Closing the Kurile Gap

<t> <br/>
Tried this as the USSR side (of course).<br/>
This is a pretty massive scenario starting 14th July 1989.<br/>
<br/>
The problem having play tested this a few times is winning while not getting Japan involved.<br/>

Kept the CVBG at creep which helped it pick off several subs.<br/>

RE: Submarines on the offence

<t> <br/>
I tend to find you definitely use different tactics for NATO and for Russian type submarines.<br/>
<br/>
If NATO at game start I'll often go to creep, search behind and the levels, then maybe even take a look at periscope.<br/>
I'll often load up with TLAM or Harpoon and aim to use ...

<t> <br/>
Tried this out and the TLAM strike does seem to trigger the Japanese as hostile. Oddly enough it didn't actually affect much as I kept my aircraft grounded at first. In the end the one Victor III tracked the CVA group but didn't get into shooting range, however the Foxtrot did. All six ...

Nice scenario, most things working very well, the messages and missions worked out nicely.<br/>
You're definitely behind the curve in this one and the scoring is a struggle. I peaked at about 70 points, but in the end managed an average -30. (And I worked dam hard for that!)<br/>

RE: Scenario for Testing - Northern Fury 6 Keflavick Capers

<t> Runway didn't work, sadly I spent a lot of time desperately hoping it did. Couldn't work out why it didn't. I didn't see any damage but several ammo bunkers were damaged and on fire, while splash damage had hit one of my patrols even.<br/>

Thought most things worked, very enjoyable scenario.<br/>
Interesting that I may (or may not) have won despite losing air cover. Effectively I think a Kitchen strike took out both runways and Keflavik stopped operating.<br/>
However the LA sank I think Slava and Kusnetsov before being ...

RE: The Battle of Mitú, 1995 -- new beta for testing

<t> Played through successfully for a minor victory, biggest problem was dodging G rail's I think. I wasn't sure if FARC got overwhelmed or didn't fire much? Think I detected anti tank type stuff but relatively little small arms fire.<br/>

NK struggled as in this one the sub attack was identified as NK Romeo so I felt my orders allowed retaliation. As far as I can see from my ROE that was right, though it did mean I was ahead of the game mostly.<br/>
