<t> Or a whole German division being held up for days by a single Soviet heavy tank en route to Leningrad in 41 ... Can't even remember which book that was in by which commander .. but they had to wait until they could find and position 88's, nothing else worked. They gave the Soviet crew hero ...

RE: Touch Support

<t> Amazing ! Just yesterday, I was musing on the subject of a Surface 2 VS any other type of tablet, and idly throwing mental pros and cons about. Having read up a bit on the Surface 2, it seemed like the best solution for my specific needs - i.e., if I'm going to purchase a tablet form factor, I ...

RE: Historical play

Excellent post. Simple, straightforward and true. Captures precisely what I have been seeking in wargames since spending most of the summer of '76 in a friend's basement playing and replaying Avalon Hill's "Third Reich" !

RE: Sell Me This Game

The way I've come to think of WitE is that it's akin to a successful PC implementation of the Gamers' Operational Combat Series boardgames : as detailed as OCS, but with the PC doing the heavy lifting (eg, supply !)

<t> aha ! Thanks Joel - it was there to be read, in the amended manual ... had, of course, overlooked it - my apologies :<br/>

Revised Manual – With this version, you will find a new pdf manual (US Letter) which has corrections and revisions. We hope to periodically update this manual and ...

RE: New WitE Public Beta v1.04.36 Available!

<t> I have a rather fiddly question ... I'm one of these old dudes who prefers to do his reading on paper as opposed to a screen as soon as we're talking about oh, say more than 5 pages. The WiTe manual more than qualifies for paper by that rule for me, so I was wondering : does anyone know which ...

RE: Have you seen Interdictions in your games when using WitE v1.03 BETA6?

The interdiction is a welcome addition. Of course, it will require some fine-tuning; the more users chime in with their specific experiences of it, the better and the faster the developers can tweak it.

RE: Hungarians... on Turn 3

<t> I've seen this happen - its a bug of some sort. A soviet unit forced to retreat into Hungary or Romania can cause it. The problem is that it allows a very ahistorical narrative to emerge - i.e., Axis ability to completely empty Yugoslavia of all its Italian garrison forces, in addition to ...

<t> Here's my 2 cents worth from the cheap seats:<br/>
<br/>
I bought WITE pretty much when it came out and have played 3 games against a buddy, each one up until December. These games spanned from the very first release right up to 1.05. <br/>

A rail hex in Hungary got damaged that way in our game. we may have found the - or a - common denominator here.

RE: Beta5 Minor Allies

It would seem that way. Not a huge problem, my opponent and i will simply agree to refrain from emptying Yugoslavia and Hungary, and stick to "expected" levels of Italian and Hungarian commitment. It may be something you'd want to investigate and fix further down the road I suppose.

Actually, now that you mention that - it happened in this game - a Soviet unit retreated one hex into Hungary.

Beta5 Minor Allies

<t> I've noticed that in Beta 5 (perhaps it might even have been there in 4), the entire Italian occupation force in Yugoslavia is no longer zeroed out on movement. Ditto for the Hungarians within Hungary. Conceivably, an Axis player could now triple or quadruple the size of those nations ...

RE: Some are more SS than others...

Don't know about Swedes, but I remember reading that French SS were amongst the very last to be flushed out ... they were in the subway tunnels. The problem with foreign SS at that very late hour is that they couldn't easily ditch their uniforms and pretend to be German civilians
