Re: Napoleonic Europe

supply has to go by a route, and if you send it manually, which can be done

Interesting

You can actually set up units on land, to have interdiction abilities, with a range of either hexes, or APs

So the convoy battles happen but are abstracted?

You don't actually find yourself in a battle ...

Judging by what's stated above this game is a potential campaign manager ...

1) It would allow to test out certain what ifs (had I had this amount of additional divisions, would my offensive have succeeded?)

2) Also immersion/roleplaying aspects ...

This is interesting.

Are you the umpire?

Is the fog of war maintained?

Have you devised rules for exchanging information between the two game systems?

Re: Napoleonic Europe

Someone approached me about getting transfers in. Together we made this graphic.

Supply Train Pic.jpg

I don't like making stuff, and not using it. So count on them being in.

I thought that ATG uses an abstracted supply system, so that battles around and over supply convoys, both on land and at ...

1. Didn't they release the source code of Combat Mission Campaign?
2. Would modern AI be able to do anything with it?

Re: Open Source Close Combat?

Don't hold out any hope for this. Matrix is not a charity and the health of an old classic is not their concern. They wouldn't want such a classic competing with newer titles as they herd sheeple toward the check outs.

Why do you think BoardGameGeek is doing so well?

There is hope on the horizon ...

Re: RE: Campaigning

In previous discussions we have ascertained that XConq's saved game files can be read. If Armored Brigade's can too does that not open the possibility of linking the two games using external software? XConq would be the campaign manager for Armored Brigade and at last we might have dual level ...

Armored Brigade II on DVD ?

Tried to buy Armored Brigade II this morning but could not find the DVD option. It seemed to be Download version only.

Does that mean that there is no DVD option; or was I pressing the wrong buttons?

Can that AI draw maps?

I know it won't be able to code the under-the-bonnet stuff, but what about the top-down orthographic view?

Re: Armored Brigade Black Powder Mod

I can foresee a problem.

Troop formations in the age of black powder were close packed and linear. Armored Brigade restricts the number of troops able to fit on a tile.

I suppose there were a couple of decades at the end of the black powder era when breech loading had been invented but "smokeless ...

Guerrillas

I don't have a copy of Fortress Italy.

Does the editor include small units which could be construed as guerrillas?

I'm thinking of civilian clothing, chaotic unit sizes and ad-hoc weapons.

Would the game allow them to be pitched against one another (armed mob versus armed mob) ?

So, I was asking artificial intelligence about war game campaign management, and it came up with something I'd never heard of before.

Re: An Odd Question Re Solitaire Play

wargaming was supposed to have a social engagement function

Wargaming is many things to different people, and, don't get me wrong, I enjoy the craic at the local club. They are a great bunch of guys; but I still enjoy solo play at home.

The advent of computer games with their built in opponent ...
