RE: T12

I am going to take a break from WITE2 for a while until at least some of the issues with the air war have been resolved. -tyronec

As always a joy to see what Tyronec can do with the Axis. I hope your absence is brief.

Lots of "man love" going on in this post ;-P

I don't know Gundam but I have enough love for them both.[;)]

RE: T03

<t> Tyrone has not lost his touch. He humbled Russian players (including me) during testing. With Gundam pulling back aggressively we'll see if that thwarts the Germans. Tyrone is a master at German logistics and he never seems to make mistakes. He takes enormous risks but they are coldly calculated ...

RE: Manual engagement of SUs

<t> To add to AlbertN's thoughts I think the randomness reflects the reality that not every commander would want to (or have the command and communications structure) to release every reserve SU to a battle just because a lower commanders wants/needs it. Also, SU units will only join a battle so ...

RE: Maskirovka

<t> I don't do it but you can create dummy armies as the Soviets. Early on you can build almost unlimited divisions and brigades. Set their max TOE to 15% and you can move your dummy army around as you see fit. I rely on Germans poor recon capabilities late 1942 onward and don't concentrate troops ...

RE: In Defence of Canadian Pilots

<t> When I reference 10:1 I should clarify I mean axis NF versus allied NF and allied night bombers. NF on NF it is closer to 1:1 although I'm not tracking closely. I've been playing with the patch to NF combat for longer as a beta tester and any comments on NF performance are in reference to post ...

RE: In Defence of Canadian Pilots

<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>Why does the effectiveness of night bombing decrease in late 44? Is this just because of the swarms of German NFs. My understanding is that many human German players disband their NF squadrons because they need the pilots for their day fighter squadrons.

RE: Map Art: War in the East vs. West?

<t> I like the new map, especially the new indications of weather. The only thing I might change is a little more contrast between light and heavy mud hexes. I like the forests better than WitE. I always thought some of the broad clear areas could use some farmland or other graphics to break up ...

RE: In Defence of Canadian Pilots

<t> One more point I would make. There are a lot of Canadians in bomber command. The effectiveness of night bombing decreases dramatically by late 1944 and the loss rate soars. Germans have swarms of night fighters with lots of aces. I find myself switching much of bomber command to daylight ground ...

RE: In Defence of Canadian Pilots

<r> I use to have a shortage before the patch but haven't had an issue since but I also don't run my air force as hard as some other players might. It is rare now I have more than 3 days of flying for a given AD and many like bombing are 2 days. The Free French and the Norwegians seem to have the ...

RE: Why IGOUGO and not WEGO?

<t> Call me a heretic but I think IGOUGO is the right choice for a game with 1 week turns. The reserve commitment feature gives some WEGO flavor to the game and the combat hex delay penalty mitigates some of the IGOUGO distortion. Biggest frustration with WEGO is the rogue unit phenomena. Enemy unit ...

RE: War in the East 2 Wishlist

<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>It is not really a lot of micromanagement. Once it is all organized, you hardly ever have to move the squadrons about, and you can think of them just as a big HQ that can do certain missions. <e>
</e></QUOTE>

RE: Moving units from ships to land

Sometimes its not the HQ but the support units attached to it. No port is big enough to unload SHAEF if you wait until too many units in it. I think game is forgiving though and unless fixed recently I think I've actually transferred units from HQ's in port but still on a ship.

RE: Production question

<t> Denniss, I appreciate the attention to detail. The Germans and Russians especially moved a lot of stuff by canal and river but I don't see how that would be easily modeled in the game unless you lowered the transport cost for resources so it doesn't ding your rail capacity so much.<br/>
