RE: OT: A burning question..

Every ton of good Krupp Steel used to build a ship instead of a tank was a mis allocation of precious assets. The Kaiser made a similar mistake building his navy before WW 1.

RE: Open your mind!

Deserted Fox,

Thankyou for posting the link to that excellent paper by Glanz. It addresses many of the issues that have been discussed here, related to the game.

German players quitting: a problem?

How does the Russian player know that if he has managed not to get wiped out in '41 or nlt mid '42 the German player won't just quit because he did not achieve the overwhelming victory he felt himself entitled to?

<t> Excuse me, but I do not see how the combat results described in these threads is all that impossible.&nbsp; It can be described this way:<br/> The dug in outnumbered defensive force suffers relatively little from the enemy artillery.&nbsp; It manages to put some fire on the attacking ene...

RE: Fortifications too much too fast

<r> Because historically the Russians did not construct fortifications in 1942 in the amount we may see in the game does not necessarily mean they did not have the capability to do it. If Comrade Stalin orders you to conduct the Kharkov offensive in the spring, he does <I><s></s>not<e></e></I...

RE: Morale loss if Moscow falls?

<r> This is an interesting discussion.<br/> <br/> Would Napoleon have won in 1812 if taking Moscow occurred with the destruction of Kutuzov's army?<br/> <br/> Would the Germans have won in 1941 if they destroyed the Soviet army taking Moscow?<br/> <br/> Neither did, but either <I><s></s>might<e>[...

RE: flank bonus?

I believe a flank attack bonus at this distance and time scale is inappropriate. In tactical games where units have a facing, it is.

RE: War in the West

<t> I don't see how the North African campaign would be alot of fun at this scale. It is 600 miles west from El Alamein to El Agheila as the crow flies, the approximate distance west from Moscow to Brest-Lotovsk. Tunis is 500 miles west and 500 miles north of El Agheila and Casablanca is another 100...

Casualty calculations

<t> I notice from perusing the '41 AARs that casualty calculations have changed. I looked only at German casualty rates, as Russian "disabled" which I will call WIA (wounded in action) surely became prisoners at a large rate.<br/> <br/> In BigAnorak's alpha tests I noticed that KIA (Killed in Action...

RE: Mud, what am I missing?

The late rasputitsa in June, 1812 did more to hurt Napoleon in 1812 than the later snow. And he made it to Moscow.

The German army in 1941 had more horses than the french/Allied army in 1814....

If you get a decisive victory as Germans in this scenario, how does it correlate to how it might have looked if you were playing the Grand Campaign game?

Will there be improvements to the Air War component?

<r> When I get a new computer, I would really like to have this game. <br/> <br/> From following this forum, my biggest reservation so far concerns the air war component. It does not seem as intuitive as it could be to manage manually, requiring certain mouse click intensive tricks to get it to work...

<r> <br/>
<QUOTE><s>
</s>It became a tradition in the development forums, to post "Where did my HQs go?" threads. RE: What PBEM House Rules do you suggest?

If an aspect of gameplay requires a "Gentleman's Rule" to fix it, why not request it be fixed in an official update?

The less Gentleman's rules, the better the game.

RE: When does captured equp get used?

I believe that some may overestimate how easy it is to use captured equipment rapidly in WW2.

Tanks, trucks, whatever.
