Re: Submerged status of subs now visible to the opponent?

Elessar2 wrote: Tue Sep 08, 2026 10:52 pm Is this new, something old that nobody had ever noticed before, or does it mean something other than submerged status? TIA.
It's been stated in the manuals for all the SC games for as long as I can remember. Including the hardbound printed manuals.

Re: Missing combat report in combatreport.txt

What switches are you using? Not sure why, but apparently adding the -dd_sw switch to the command line properties has solved this issue in the past for other players.

Re: How to actually open the Japanease Shipbuilding Menu?

It's not so much a shipbuilding menu as it Is a build-alter menu. As a Japanese player if you click on Ship Availability in the Intelligence menu (hotkey I) you will you see along with the list of scheduled reinforcement ships that you also have the option to accelerate or halt the building of ...

Re: Question

Thanks for answering. What i am really getting at is if the Europe part of World at War is the same as War in Europe. I know anything related to the Japanese is not there.

No. They're at different map scales and they don't both have all the same cities, towns, rivers, etc. Both the European and ...

Re: Question

The maps for all three are different. SC War in Europe has a European map that stretches across the Atlantic to the US and Canada. SC War in the Pacific's map covers the Pacific from Asia to the North American West Coast. SC World at War basically has a global map. The unit types also vary from ...

Are you using the switch in the main menu game options screen or the one in preferences?

Re: Turn Cycle Question

It might depend on the sort of opponent you have. Playing against the AI you can change it easily, but apparently in a PBEM game the Japanese player needs to add -cd to the command line switches. Having the -cd added should then enable the option for changing the turn number in a PBEM game in the ...

I image the IJN's early radars had the same problems.

Very much so. The Japanese dominance in electronics in the postwar era is well known but during the war they still labored in the dark ages. The quality of Japanese components was so poor that most vacuum tubes failed inspection, and even ...

Re: How I realized I was a wargaming dinosaur

As interesting as all that detail is in a grand strategic command game I often wonder how realistic all the micro-management is that goes with it. At that exalted high level of command would I really be burdened with what loadout of bombs a particular air squadron will carry? What altitude it flies ...

I just play the standard game with no mods (besides art) and I send Allied subs up the Yangtze river to mess with Japanese shipping rather routinely.

This issue gets mentioned a lot in this thread. It probably means Fall Weiss is currently in the wrong directory.
