RE: Enemy assaults Port Blair

<t> PzB, what you could do to save supplies is take a long, hard look at fort construction. Especially the levels above 6 need huge amounts so you might see some savings there. Also the DEI produces some surplus supplies so you might ship out some of that.<br/>

Chris, you might be interested in learning that the 11th - 13th Indpt Infantry Regiments at Malaybalay are part from a Division starting in China (at least in stock but I don't think this scenario changed that).

In the stock game Tanaka will be made commander of the 13th Base Force once it arrives in late '43 and is stuck there unless you pay PPs to free him.

I don't think that abolishing the amphib bonus is the holy grail you'll make it out to be since accomplishing even anything close to the historical conquest of the DEI without will be impossible I fear. Taking all these extra bases and dot hexes is pretty vital for Japan ...

Does anyone have experience with radar equipped Jap subs, are they more efficient than those without?

They'll generate more attacks but they die just as easily against the allied DCs.

RE: Ground bombing is borked, part II

My personal view is that much of the silliness could be removed by deleting the ground attack option of B-29s. I think that should be doable without messing too much with the code otherwise (hopefully).

RE: China balance, current opinions for vanilla?

<t> My opinion for whatever it is worth is that Japan can make some quite good initial gains during that opening period. Chinese XP and morale is bad, the troops are not where they are supposed to be, half the squads are disabled, etc. This is IMO the major source of (apparent) Chinese weakness and ...

Regarding your lack of fort building, are your units in combat mode? If they are set to rest/training they won't build.

Note that bases in China really means bases owned by China. If the Chinese army spills into Indochina and owns e.g. Cam Ranh Bay Kamis won't get activated.

RE: Japanese opponent

I am looking forward to reading a new AAR.

I still think that playing the IJN is a lot less time-consuming than the mid or late-war allies. The first turn is a beast but otherwise the economy is not that bad.

RE: Rangoon is abandoned!

<t> Where is the Southern Area Army HQ? I found that once you get supplies into Burma they'll be sucked back across the trails to Bangkok (and further on to Singapore, Saigon, etc.) if that command HQ is in a base further back. You can also see something similar if one of that bases has the supply ...

RE: Port Moresby invaded!!

<t> How many fort levels do you have at Pegu? If the 10 allied divisions can get full supply (and a bit of air support) you won't be able to stop them at Pegu as it is a clear terrain hex. If the forts are high enough (i.e. 6+) you might be able to delay long enough at Pegu to evacuate the Bassein ...

Just dump the troops and supplies in PM, set them to move mode and in a couple of weeks you'll be in Lae. The same supply system that lets the ...
