RE: How do you end a war?

<r> Two clarifications:<br/>
<br/>
1) The option 50 <U><s></s>forces<e></e></U> the winning side to agree to an armistice. Even without the option, either side could propose a mutual peace, and if the other accepts the war should end. We can't find a way to do that.<br/>
<br/>
2) We ...

RE: Pros and Cons of Conquering France vs. Vichy?

A variation on a question I just asked in another thread...CAN the French surrender? How is it done? It seems that the Peace phase does not occur. Have others surrendered France, and if so, how?

How do you end a war?

<t> We have a Russian-declared war with Japan. Russia has taken Manchuria save for around Port Arthur, so has captured 2 resources.<br/>
<br/>
We cannot find any way for Japan to surrender, whether or not Russia would accept, or for finding a Mutual Peace. The Peace phase just gets skipped over ...

Blockade box unreachable?

<t> Situation in our PBEM game: Spain and Turkey just declared war upon each other over Palestine. Turkey was sieging Tripoli, which is a British Free State. Britain is not allied to either Turkey or Spain, and has given access to neither.<br/>
<br/>
When war broke out, the Turkish warships ...

RE: potential standing orders bug during land phase

<t> As I recall, during the land phase there is no button in the commands box to set any orders.&nbsp; However, garrison orders should be able to be set by clicking on the garrison name in the unit box.&nbsp; I don't know of any way to set orders for corps (or fleets), outside of Reinforcement phase ...

RE: Has 1,07 fixed the leader casuality bug?

<t> I agree, but the game isn't using the board game rules.&nbsp; The manual was quoted above, where apparently only 1D6 is now rolled to determine whether there is a casualty, and on a 6 there is one.&nbsp; The printed manual says 1D12 and a 12 gets a casualty, which would still average 2.5 ...

RE: Has 1,07 fixed the leader casuality bug?

<t> I wonder whether we are misunderstanding the bug here.&nbsp; From bresh's 30 battle test, I would have expected each side to have had five casualties, on the average, not one.&nbsp; So it seems like the game might be correctly rolling for each side, looking for a six...when it gets a six, it ...

RE: Depots stop movement?

<t> Can anyone address why the zones lit up showing potential moves?&nbsp; Can a besieged corps cut and run on a dark night?&nbsp; Or would I have suddenly found myself in a disastrous breakout fight against the besiegers had I tried to move out?<br/>
&nbsp;<br/>
And would that breakout battle ...

Depots stop movement?

<t> I have an Egyptian corps besieged in Damietta by Turks. I had assumed its only move possible was to attack out of the city using the 5:1 table, but clicking on the corps I see that zones light up showing that the corps can slip out the back door and flee. <br/>
<br/>
But then I notice that the ...

Minor DoW cancelled by removing Influence?

<t> Found an odd effect in our brand new PBEM game. I am playing Spain, and planned to DoW Portugal on turn 1. I set the DoW, went about other diplomacies, then pondered if there was anything I had forgotten. I recalled an earlier game where (for a reason I cannot recall) I had decided it was ...

RE: New problem?

<t> I'm the Spanish player.&nbsp; I moved my .sav files for the game mentioned above to my laptop, where I was playing two other games.&nbsp; I have had no problem at all on the laptop, so it does not seem to be something virus-like, transmitting from one player to the next via game files.&nbsp; I ...

Proper 1.05.03 install procedure

<t> What is the proper way to install 1.05.03?<br/>
<br/>
1) Just download it, and install to a new directory...No, that doesn't work, most folders don't show up, game won't run<br/>
<br/>
2) Download it into a folder with a working copy of 1.04.07 and install, updating 1.04.07 to 1.05.03? That ...

RE: insurrection corps broken in 1.05

<t> I am in a PBEM game as Austria.&nbsp; The game was started in 1.04.07 and migrated to 1.05, then 1.05.03.&nbsp; (The game is being used to train our recent converts, so we're being very forgiving of the peculiarities we've seen, and just carrying on.)<br/>

RE: Harbour Build Limits

<t> I'm not sure Rome was yet one of the greatest powers during the First Punic War, though obviously it was on its way. But your point of time needed is valid.<br/>
<br/>
Then again, our game can last 11 years. So that's time for the Austrians to build a fleet, lose it, and build another. Or the ...

<t> If a new recruit may join in this educational discussion...<br/>

First, to add to the classical era evidence: do I recall correctly that, over the course of the First Punic War, the Romans invented having a fleet (copying a Carthaginian trireme that washed ashore after a storm ...
