Updated Philippine OOB for 1941

PHILIPPINE OOB Data Sheet #2

Pre-war the 1st "Regular" Division consisted of two organized units - a single infantry battalion and one troop of cavalry - stationed in Manila and used as ceremonial troops. All the rest of the regular army was dispersed in training units, depots, and HQ detachments ...

RE: American Gunnery

And training probably gained a bit more emphasis considering new ships crews knew they were going into combat. Hopefully not so many "check the block" events prior to deploying.

RE: CAP suggestions wanted

Agreed with avoiding setting CAP range to zero. Doesnt make sense tactically nor does it take advantage of radar and fighter direction (which I would assume WITP AE replicates because it does everything else so well).

<t> If you want to know a little bit about the Scouts.........<br/>
<br/>
The American Army’s initial involvement with training indigenous troops in the Philippines turned out to be one of its longest running and most unique. From 1899 to 1902, a state of war existed in the Philippine Islands as a ...

RE: 37 mm AT Gun hits 1 - WTF ???

<t> Having stood on the New Zealand defensive positions overlooking Maleme airfield, I would entertain serious doubts that aircraft in flight were being hit. Its a LONG way off (surprisingly so) and howitzer shells travel fairly slowly. Vickers HMGs would seem to be the best weapon to use against ...

Chalk it up to a land warfare guy tenatively exploring the airy bounds of flight (in preparation for writing a book on the US 12th AF in Tunisia). <br ...

RE: Aircraft Performance

WITPQS,

Although I used the P-47 as an example, I am not focused on a single airframe. The parameters I mentioned (increasing performance at altitude) might apply to multiple airframes across the entire spectrum of combatants. Didnt meant to sound like a P-47 fanboy.

RE: Aircraft Performance

<t> True, if one plane gets worse and the opposing plane gets better performance at altitude, then the difference is significant. If they both get better, then it cancels out. I never thought about this factor until I began doing research for a book on aviation warfare and delved a bit more deeply ...

RE: Plane-Based Radar: What does it do?

<t> I have also asked myself about the benefits of radar in the game, as I have attempted to run "intruder" missions over Japanese airfields at night using Allied night fighters (sweep mode in mission setting). They never make contact. I have also tried to escort night bombing raids with night ...

RE: Vildebeast and drop tanks

<t> CAP altitude settings seem to make a difference. I have had CAP fly a bit higher (in anticipation of dealing with a fighter escort) and had torpedo bombers get in and out without losses. Not often, but enough to spur me to remember to set CAP at medium altitudes AND high altitudes if I have ...

What is tough to track is the merry-go-round of commanders as Filipino officers were in many cases replaced by their instructor advisors. Both the 21st and 41st Divisions (Capinpin and Lim) were officered by all Filipinos, as was the 1st Regular Division (in name only). Right ...

I thought it might have to do with folding wings versus non-folding, but never did any research into early Corsairs.&nbsp; Lack of Tail hooks make sense too.
