Apologies - I haven't been on the board in a while - I didn't see the new Pinned Post at the top for this kind of stuff. Please feel free to delete!

RE: US Navy ASM capabilities

<t> The issue isn't so much that a Harpoon or TASM replacement is lacking; it's more that modern offensive operations no longer envision traditional exchange of organic-fire salvos between Fleets as an exclusive engagement. The US Navy would never operate forward without significant aviation ...

Pointers on MCM?

<t> I've set a mission area and assigned an MCM. I verified where the mines are by checking in God's Eye view, and then backed out again to let the AI operate. The MCM/POD window has all of the MCM tools checked off. Sweeper still runs into the 1st mine in the field and is damaged. I set it to about ...

RE: How much can you do with the LCS?

<t> The latest (classified) US Naval War College games broke several rules with LCS. We don't have all the details obviously, but a couple of things you can glean from Open Source:<br/>
<br/>
1. They don't have the legs and were never intended to run with an Expeditionary Strike Group (the new ...

RE: USN in case you missed it

Growler could keep up with the current Strike Packages, which are all Superbugs. That was one very compelling operational reason. It also simplified the logistical and maintenance chains aboard the ship, increasing commonality across squadron types.

<t> Although a laser will be tested on Ponce in the Persian Gulf, there is no Program of Record for shipborne lasers. No PoR means no official intentions as to what type, when or how much to get. Still very much experimental.<br/>

Thanks. Just a note though - the scenario is not ready for play test. It's not even past the bare bones requirements I have for publication. But feel free to poke around and enjoy what I've got so far!

RE: Resurrecting Once More: B482 - SLQ-32 vs. ES-3601 - LCS beats the pants off any other ship with ESM

Good point. It just seems like ES-3601 though soundly beats an ESM proven design that is featured on major combatants, so if it is good enough for Tico and Burke, why not the low-end of the USN? I'm just wondering what real-world evidence supports this simulated performance?

[FIXED B631] SAM Minimum Alt Cannot Engage Helos

<t> So I'm fine tuning one of my scenarios before releasing to public beta, and I noted that certain helos can operate at a minimum altitude of 20 feet. Which means they can actually sneak in well under ANY surface-to-air missile envelope - I checked common IR MANPADS all the way to popular SARH and ...
