Great information! <br/>

Hmm, since I last played in 2013 I may have applied those scenario changes. From what I've read in the thread you linked to it seems ok to run the updates with an existing game in progress.<br/>

Scen 10 is the first Ironman scenario released and certainly I've sunk some unfamiliar Japanese CVs! Point taken though that some of the newer scenarios might have more to offer. I suppose if patching DOES impact the AI's ability to fight, like throwing off a script because things act ...

Thanks for your feed back! As someone who has been reading AARs since UV came out I totally understand that the real game is PBEM. I also know how heart breaking it is when an AAR partner disappears and I would only get into it when I knew I had a more stable life style! <br/>

Can Patching impact AI?

<t> <br/>
I'm back after a three year break and would like to pick up where I left off my game. I'm on beta patch 11.23p.<br/>
<br/>
Way back when I had the AI in WitP (not AE) go brain dead on me once and would hate to have that happen to my game (not sure if it was patch related or what). <br ...

2) Massive troop bombing of the MUTTLEYs. About 800 lost. The code routed the stack north up the road before SW into the rally hex. As far as I can tell the hexside directly to the rally hex is open; two late-ordered LCUs in the Pegu hex ...

RE: Is this game worth the price

Hands down the best game purchase I've ever made. I think back to the day I picked up the box of Uncommon Valor (precursor to this game) at the store and thought "this might be fun" and wonder how empty my life would have been had I grabbed something else.

Still think Sarmi (and Obi) is more of the same. He has the capacity to push through this area and cause problems, but the Allies amph capacity ramps up so fast I don't see why he shouldn't be thinking about opening another, surprise, front. If he can trick your CVs away from a "local ...

Yes, clear terrain in Sabang is a liability. But right down the road you have Langsa which can be developed into a level 9 AF. And it is on the rail line so you can shift between them. And it is jungle terrain. (Of course it is closer to his lines, but it gives you options).<br/>

My money was (I guess could still be) on a Sumatra landing. This seems a bit "more of the same". Yes he can grab some very good territory and get closer to your oil supply, but it isn't much of a leap. Despite his losses I think he should be capable of a leap with the quality and quantity ...

Radar makes a huge difference. Like the difference in effectiveness of LRCAP vs normal CAP - that big a difference. <br/>
<br/>
If I forget to drop radar at a base I can tell pretty quickly by how CAP is behaving.<br/>

CDs are also useful for shooting at enemy minesweepers. I don't know what range they have to have to be effective but have you ever tried sweeping Truk? The Fort there just blows your AMs out of the water instantly. They DO sweep a tiny bit first. You have enough SAGs at Sabang that this ...

My guess is sigint too (but take that with a grain of salt since I haven't played Japan and I know they have crap sigint). Chances are your opponent has a TF icon on the screen with no data if they mouse over it. For all your opponent knows that could be a sub, not a larger TF.

For planning it is helpful to know all these rules. But at the end of the day you'll just want to keep an eye on the base aircraft list. At the top it lists what your max number is, and which value you went over in order to "over stack". (Worth mentioning that having less AV support than ...

Yes, at level 9 you can have "unlimited" aircraft. I believe that there is fine print to that however. I am just speaking from my sense of it.<br/>
<br/>
The AV support you have still matters - repairs are slower if you are in the red.<br/>

Lots of aircraft, lots of targets. I ...

RE: The strawberry as an allegorical device

nav support and AV from HQ's has a radius. This reflects that the big boss is watching so everyone works harder. It says so in the manual, trust me. Plus they print out leaflets that say "lift with your knees". (Also why moral is low).

Without Noumea it's harder and you have to build an airstrip on Raoul Island and Norfolk Island (or Lord Howe Is and bounce thru NZ). For P-40Es that is.

When shuttling across the south pacific remember you don't need a huge amount of AV on each hop. Since you'll have them stood down you'll only get a few disabled from the hop, not the whole group. Just having a couple AV (2 - 6) is enough to repair them. I believe you have some small ...

With Canton you should be able to hop your P-38s to Rabaul. (Without Canton I think you can still do it with AV on the right islands). <br/>

Could also use AKVs the slow route or some of your fast liners and run the way-south-route. (or full speed through the worm holes to Perth ...

Prepping your units to 100 will also help the river crossing. I'm looking forward to this myself against the AI but I have to crack Alor Star first (Jan 1944). My problem is I'm on Very Hard, so the AI always has supplies. (I want a good game but I do wish I didn't have to surround every ...
