RE: Crimea? We don't need no schtinkin' Crimea!

<t> In real life Soviets bypassed Crimea in November 1943. They claimed it was biggest and best POW camp in the world; Prisoners fed and clothed themselves and when they got leave, they came back. They only assaulted it in April 1944. <br/>

RE: Correct Soviet Air Doctrine

<t> I like to put my Soviet LR bombers on Night Missions (TB-3, DB-3, IL-4) and use them against Axis fighter fields, especially those that are near front or next to some Stuka fields. Then I send my LB types (SB-2, Pe-3 etc.) against Axis front line support airfields, knocking out as many Fighter ...

RE: Hvy PZ btns

<t> Historically most of the Tigers were destroyed by Germans themselves when sPzAbt was commited to one of those Russian tie-down attacks as they found themselves inside a forming pocket. I doubt this be done in the game, when Tigers are attached to a HQ. Wouldn't these units be almost imortal ...

RE: Newby red airforce questions

<t> At 1941 your best fighter plane is MiG-3. Fast interceptor that can keep up with Me 109. You might want to switch I-153 and I-16 fighter bombers to bomber missions as in air combat they are pretty worthless and this is what Russians really did as soon as they had enough modern fighters so it is ...

<t> But it does remove the Red Army "And the kitchen sink"- doctrine. <br/>
If you remove Shturmovik, which was pretty much only plane in entire war (of any side) that was by design meant to take part in ongoing ground battles, you remove part of those ground battles you want to concentrate on ...

RE: Airfield bombing

<t> Getting 5000-6000 requires bombing fields until there are no planes left. <br/>
<br/>
Way I see it, most frontline airfields will get overrun with German tanks during turn 1 anyway, so bombing them to oblivion is just wasting of bombers which could be used against targets. Losses from bombing ...

<t> RRC - means you are not using it correctly.<br/>
<br/>
Move FBD to rail hex you want to repair and the RRC should change from RRC - to RRC 1 or RRC 3 (in Baltic rail zone it is 1, everywhere else 3). Move mouse over the text RRC 1 (or 3) and click. FBD should expand movement points and rail ...

RE: Command overload

<t> I have little experience with this game (just got it before Xmas), but it seems to me that what matters most is WHO you overload, as leadership rolls are determined by leader's abilities. So putting Model in charge of Corps formation containing 6-7 infantry divisions or saddling von Manstein ...

RE: Aircraft R&D - General Help?

<t> My general strategy on Japanese plane production is two staged;<br/>
<br/>
1) One plane type per mission and 2) Quantity has Quality.<br/>

This means that there will (optimally) only be one type one IJA fighter, one IJA bomber, one recon etc. in production in any given time (and ...

RE: Armed Guard

Thank you AirRat. Very helpful.

Lolz, that is a IX/C boat. Such boat was indeed in IJN inventory as one was sold to them in 1943, but its number was RO-500. I-501 was originally U-181, a IXD2 type boat (add 9000 miles to range and 6 torpedoes on deck storage).

RE: A-20 A Havoc Light or Medium Bomber

<t> If we start to talk about "medium" light bombers, then first on the list should be Japanese Ki-48 Lily. Take off weight of Ki-48 was full 3 tons lighter than A-20 (less than P-38) and plane itself was designed to replace Ki-32 Mary (a light bomber).<br/>

<t> I would drop B6N1 and its engine.
