RE: Found colony ship with sleeping wekkarus

when you scrap them the people inside just disappear I think; scrapping will give a technology boost but you're better off using them to colonize.

RE: Some things I noticed with the new patch

<t> thanks for the input, maybe I've just gotten too familiar with the AI behavour...<br/>
<br/>
I started a game with the development slider two further notches to the right, so all the alien races started out with 5-15ish planets and I with one along with a tech and fleet disadvantage. It was ...

Some things I noticed with the new patch

<t> -I've noticed that resort bases are still very important to a healthy economy. In my first game with the new patch they made a huge difference in my economy. I built 2 in good but not great scenic locations (in the 40-50% range, there were no fancy black holes in the neighbourhood) and they ...

RE: Huge New Update for Distant Worlds!

<t> haven't got a savegame on hand to show it but so far I've seen a small spaceport (standard design) that had just been finished (4 components unbuilt as the attack began, but it was powering up shields as the pirate ship came in range) refusing to fire on a pirate ship.<br/>

I also ...

RE: New v1.0.5.7 Public Beta Now Available!

Is the AI's tax policy improved in these patches? In 1.0.4.9 and before I can get negative income that could be solved by the AI cranking up taxes.

RE: Fleet cohesion cripples fleets, a lesson in giving people what they ask for

it is a good feature, but what's missing is good supply ships who can carry fuel with them, the way it is now doesn't make much sense

RE: AI Colonization Choices

<t> I would prefer that, other factors like resources equal, the AI prefers to send out colony ships to planets located further away. In a competitive environment it makes more sense to expand outward first then fill in the gaps later, especially when the AI is reluctant to colonize in your existing ...

RE: After many patches - now worth getting?

compared to many other strategy games this game was already really good at the time of release, but I can see why people would hold back their purchase until it gets further and further polished

RE: After many patches - now worth getting?

<t> I found sins of a solar empire to be boring, don't know about the expansions though<br/>
<br/>
distant worlds is more interesting for me with its more complex economics, but unfortunatly the strategic AI is moronic which for me ruins the military aspect of the game, the only question is how ...

not only do they often get clobbered by the monsters they are chasing, they also waste valuable time that could be spent on transporting goods, I ...

Transport ships attacking wildlife

has anyone else noticed that in the latest update your cargo ships start chasing and attacking the wildlife, or at least try to do so? not the brightest of captaining there since these civilian ships have no hopes of winning against those buggers [&:]

RE: invading colonies properly

best is to invade them all at once idd, there shouldn't be cultural revolutions when you're at war with the race; in fact sufficient troops on the planet should stop revolutions too

RE: Fuel ranges, I think they need a nerf.

<t> the range is not that huge really, in my games I tend to get a cluster of planets and then there is a big void of nothingness or useless stars (not much in the way of fuel) then there's some more interesting planets after that; it is often quite a logistical feat to have my ships arrive with ...

AI a bit too passive/uncoordinated?

<t> In my initial games with standard settings the diplomatic AI of competing empires was pretty passive (really never did declare war by itself) so I set the AI to more agressive and true enough enemy empires do declare war more often on their own accord. So that part of the diplomatic AI seems ...
