RE: Info please.

Looks a lot like SMAC imo which would be a very good thing. Nice to see someone boot that back up as its a classic so hopefully this can bring that back and maybe introduce some new wrinkles into the gameplay.

RE: Ouch - who added rocks to the Japanese OOB?

<r> Wow, now that's kinda funny because the same ship for me sunk after hitting rocks in my last game while unloading. I blamed it on myself since I didn't give the units involved much prep time for planning for it. Seemed pretty darn realistic at the time it happened. <E>:)</E><br/>

RE: Would you believe this if it happened in game?

Thb I could accept it as long as there was a reason, such as magazine accident etc etc. Just getting "BB Mutsu explodes in port" and nothing else, yeah, well hell that'd make me explode. :)

RE: DaBabies Fleet Advance Base Force

<t> I'm still having problems trying to figure out how this game is not good because certain people will abuse game mechanics in it? To me that's the same line of thought that says it's ok for a burglerer to sue the homeowner he's robbing when he falls down a flight of stairs in the middle of the ...

A very interesting read back into time though.

RE: Base interface screen question

<t> Ah, well that makes sense and thanks for the info. I have not played the main campaign yet doing only Coral Sea twice and I am now playing Guadalcanal but your answer prompts another. Is there a way to track how supplies move across the maps land surfaces or does everything end up in one or two ...

RE: Tutorial?

<t> I second the video tutorials. Watch those first, you'll be clueless more than likely. Then play a small map and just click around on stuff to see how things work. Then go back to the vids and they'll make MUCH more sense. Also read the manual as you can, it helps with the mechanics as well imo ...

Base interface screen question

<t> Ok, so I am slowly grinding my way towards understanding the game and its mechanics...sloooowly. I have read the manual and check the boards frequently to glean info as part of this however I'm having problems figuring this one out as it seems to be something newer than the manual covers nor did ...

RE: Need a bit help getting started

I live in CA so you two might make a better match as far as zones go although not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing as far as pbem games go? Is it better to be on opposite sides of the globe to allow smoother turns or is it better to be in the same time zone?

RE: Tom Clancy's new book "Locked In"

<t> I actually have the war games The Hunt for Red October and Red Storm Rising...you can even play them side by side. It's really light stuff but it can have its moments. I've read the usual stuff from Clancy myself, (even have Armoured Cav, which is hopeless outdated now lol) with the last book I ...

RE: OT: Best Game to buy for Christmas!!!!

<t> HoI3 with For the Motherland expansion is a very good game imo and feels what HoI3 should have been out the box (I picked it up relatively soon after release). I just did a playthrough since then with Turkey and it was a lot of fun. Ironically enough I've been tossing around playing Japan next ...

Same here. I tend to buy a game after a lot of reading about it and while I make a decent living WitP:AE has always been just a tad rich for my blood especially in light of many other great games to be had. The AAR's were definitely a big movitater not to mention the discount. [;)]

<t> I feel ya ParaB, just got the game 2 days ago as well and have been plowing through the manual as well as clicking around on various things and some of this stuff is pretty dense. [&:] I figured out Aurora though and this game has tons more documentation then that so I'm not giving up. [:)]</t>

RE: OT: Best Game to buy for Christmas!!!!

I can second CM:Normandy

Good game and as more content gets released it'll just get better. Personally I am having a hard time waiting for the East front to come back into the rotation as I have great memories of CM:BB.

<t> Just bought this game yesterday and I look forward to learning how to play it. To that end between reading the manual I also came looking for some AAR's to learn more about how to play the game. Just intended to read the first post on this one but this excellent AAR had me hooked. Very well done ...
