Interesting post! I agree troops are expensive and it is inefficient to try and defend everything. I set my troop policy for garrisons to low and restrict troops to 10% of my economy, until I'm overflowing with money. Except for strategic planets, I rely on counterattacking to retake planets.

And in the end, Titan Blasters dominate over everything. One can hardly afford to make it the primary weapon of choice due to how much Kaasian it needs - unless economically dominating (in which case any weapon will work). Incidentally, late game torpedoes need Kaasian too. Titan Blaster's ...

Hey - purely anecdotal - but my rig also reboots when playing. I kind of didn't think that was supposed to be possible w/ Windows, but it surely does happen.

I ran some CPU & GPU stress tests and nothing overheated or was unstable for those runs (6hrs), but... could be some specific combo of asks ...

The hotfix fixed the earlier crash I reported with DistantWorlds.Types.Ship.EvaluateAdequateAttackers!

The game is crashing every hour or so of play. The compressed save file is well over 10 MB, so can't easily attach a save file.

I have researched Officer Training but DU2 doesn't offer any place, including my home world, to build the Military Academy. It just don't show up. Do I have to research and build another building before? Or am I facing a broken game?

It seems pretty random to me. Playing as Securans in my current game and I got the Boskarans and Wekkarus near me. Both were fairly far away on the map. The prior game I think it was Mortalens and Ugnaris, or some such thing.
