RE: Hex descriptions changed since 1.10

Thanks VPaulus. Is it just a name issue or do the hexes now behave as they're described (with regard to defense values, movement etc etc). Just wondering whether to carry on or wait until the next patch.

Hex descriptions changed since 1.10

<t> Ever since I installed the 1.10 update some of the hexes from my game saves have changed their description. eg: a city now becomes a river, a clear terrain hex is now a jungle and at least one city is now a desert!! Several cities have been relocated. Cologne finds itself in the south not far ...

RE: Patch question

Thanks. I looked for the version number all over before posting and couldn't see it. Seems to be version 1.00, I shall download 1.04 immediately.

RE: Can't install patch!!

Hmm. Only got 104Mb. Any idea why is coming up short? It seems to download to completion, no noticeable sudden drop in time left.

Can't install patch!!

<t> Not sure if I need to post this here or on the members download site, so I'll do both. I can't install the patch. The download completes with no problem, however when I run it I get the message "Archive integrity check failed. Setup file is not complete, possibly due to incomplete download or ...

How do you organise your artillery?

<t> Do any of you have any tips on how you organise their use of artillery? I know what to target (supply points, roads etc), but how do you run your arty so everything gets used to maximum efficiency. I can start off ok, but in the heat of battle I forget about units, or units go quiet after ...

RE: Good scenarios for beginners?

Ah! That will explain it, thanks Lieste. It may also help with gaining a victory if I can get some troops onto all the VP locations just before the end in order to deny enemy VP's.

RE: Good scenarios for beginners?

<t> I realise that you need the ten to one ratio but as springel says, surely that's what you have when the op turns green. I achieved this AND held it green for at least one day yet the progress bar and the percentage info read zero. On any other scenario I've played I see progress in these bars ...

RE: Good scenarios for beginners?

<t> Numerous tries later I have achieved a heartwarming Marginal Defeat!! Given my earlier attempts I rank this as a vast improvement. I can now take and hold Monschau and get troops contesting both Hofen North and South. I was let down by the 2nd Bn 751 Gren who insisted on wandering around the ...

RE: Good scenarios for beginners?

<t> You make it sound so simple Lieste [&o] I think biting off more than I can chew is my major problem here. As you say, taking the edge of the village before assaulting the objective would be simpler and more achievable. Also the night attack seems a good plan Phoenix. More experimentation needed ...

RE: Good scenarios for beginners?

<t> Hmmm. I don't seem to be able to make any attack run on Hofen N or S without my infantry units getting routed before I've had chance to dunk my biscuit in my tea! I've tried Probe as well with the same result. I've also tried using individual units to act as scouts for my arty, but any arty ...

RE: Good scenarios for beginners?

<t> Thanks guys, lots of ideas there. [:)]<br/>

I have been tending to use my arty to pound seven bells out of enemy units with varying levels of success. Perhaps a more thoughtful approach is required as Lieste says. How much arty fire is required to stop a column moving along a road? Does ...

Good scenarios for beginners?

<t> What would you suggest are a few good starting scenarios for a beginner at BFTB? I've played the tutorial/demo (although not since buying the game) and I've played Battle of the Roadblocks (with varying levels of success). I then moved onto Mahey crossroads as it seemed to have few units and ...
