Re: 1128b - bugs and issues

I noticed it somewhere in 2020, totally accidentally.

Re: WitPTracker AE Release 1.11 Available!

I am running the 32-bit Java on a 64-bit laptop.

Here is my Tracker's starting screen with the 32-bit Java location.

Re: Supply surprise.

Wait, Tracker counts supplies in bases to give an estimate of supply situation in a given economy. In China, several LCUs start the GC with x2 supply or more. Thus, at least in the beginning, your supply count is Tracker is indirectly boosted by the LCUs giving their surplus supplies to Chinese base...

Port attack - house rule versus AI

This disastrous air raid on Rabaul and its ships got me thinking https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=5220919#p5220919 In the PTO, the most successful raids against disbanded ships were performed by CV aircraft - a mix of torpedo bombers and dive bombers -Pearl Harbor attack in 1941 -t...

Re: Supply surprise.

Does it work the same as supply trace? If your closest base has <49 supply trace starting from an LCU, then the LCU should give its surplus supplies to the base only one day in a week. Ans if you cannot trace back a supply line to the base (because your enemy blocked hexes around you), surplus suppl...

Re: RE: Command HQ prep

1. LCU looks to see if a Corps HQ is in range. If a Corps HQ is found, proceed to points 2-6 below. If no Corps HQ is found, proceed to points 7-8 below 2. If Corps HQ is within range, the level and target of the Corps HQ is checked and a combat bonus within the range 0-10% may be given. 3. If more...

Re: Vildebeest Load?

Not sure if it makes a difference, but if I plan to do ground attack I click directly on the LCU icon when I set my Recon missions. I think (from past discussions) that if the LCUs are moving they are easier to spot. That might mean that sitting in a base with forts gives them lots of cover. Intere...

Re: Logistics 101

FraunGausch, unload your resources in Babeldaob. If the code can push surplus resources to the adjacent port level 0 in Peleliu, it will do so (thousgh 500 x 0 should be 0). If not, expand the port in Peleliu to level 1, and afterwards always drop resources in Babeldaob (see manual section 9.3.3.3)

Re: Supply surprise.

Several units in the beginning of GC have ample supply, for example some corps in non-base hexes in China. When you check those units after 15 turns you will notice that some of this ample supply is gone. I have always thought this supply was first used in the units for their day-to-day needs. Givin...

Re: Vildebeest Load?

Damn, I have been clicking on a base's flag icon for the last 14 years.

If nothing works I will send my ultimate armored recon aircraft: a B-17 at 1000 feet. Any 7.7mm AAMG device will shoot at it, thus upping an LCU's DL even more.

Scen001

Hex 78,58

The map shows a section of a Main Road from the SW hexside to the hex's centre. Pressing "R" reveals there is no Main Road, only a Minor Road.

Re: Escort ships and screening merchants

Guess it may mean both. But I wonder if all those small craft as escorst are penalised in "screening" compared to DD classes. A SC or PB cannot hope to do much as a screen other than get itself sunk. Something like a PT with a greater endurance would probbaly do more as an escort.

Re: Supply trace - dynamic values?

I mentioned replacements (>49 trace value, so 50 is enough) but there are two other important tresholds: 49 value at a terminus base - the base can receive supplies three days a week 89 value at a terminus base - the base can receive supplies SEVEN days a week So, if putting ant units along a supply...

Re: Post-target intercept

I sometimes see bomber raids, which come last in AM or PM phase, facing no airborne/ready CAP, but only a HUGE number of scrambling fighters. However, those scramblers do not trigger a post-target intercept, especially if the last raid is just spotted with a short ETA time. I get several late-coming...

Re: Escort ships and screening merchants

I wonder if Naval skill influences smoke screen, as well as a ship's characteristics - a fast ship (DD) with more powerful engines should set a faster smoke screen over a bigger area. This would give merchant ships more chance to escape combat unscathed.

But later in the turn, and afterwards in the combat report/ops report, there was no subsequent air attack against this TF. That is the point.

Re: Vildebeest Load?

Drop tanks disabled. The selected Warhawk unit performing Ground Attack is always set to 100% Ground Attack (they mostly fly 100% of available aircraft IF they fly) I see you put aJapanese division in Naga for the test. In the GC the Japanese column in Japanese-held Naga consists of an armored unit,...
