Extended Typhoon

I really don't understand why they decided to end this scenario early in January '42 just as the Soviet counter offensive was in full flood. In any case, just to note that it is a simple matter to extend the game in the editor. I opted for 24 turns ending on March 16 '42. I may add reinforcements ...

Seeking history-minded Soviet player

After a long ascent I still haven't made the summit of this beast but I would guess I'm at camp 4 or something (I still have not gone after War in the Pacific AE which is perhaps the WWII game-Everest, in which case WitE is K2).
I'm a scenario designer in days of yore (my own monster Ostfront ...

Re: New v1.04.07 Public Beta Now Available!

I'm trying to run that and it says I don't have WitE2 installed.... even though I am unzipping it right into the steam folder with WitE2. I'm on Steam, not sure what you meant by changing game properties. Thanks.

Re: Anyone here play solitaire (both sides Human-controlled)?

I am, as a way to learn the game. In my campaign game it's August 1943 and the Germans are hanging on from Leningrad to Rostov, their '42 campaign pretty much the same as historical.

I want to hear more about this as well. The depot supply system is rather mystifying. I need enlightenment please.

Wehrmacht Security Unit disappearance

Turn 8 on my first run-through of the Barbarossa campaign and I notice the security units have all disappeared. Was hoping for a fast answer rather than wade through the rules. I imagine they are removed to abstractly fight the growing partisan presence behind the lines, oder?

:EDIT: nm I just ...

Re: Editing unit colours?

Thanks for that. I have only dabbled with the editor so far and do not see that you can open an existing scenario to do this? I take it you edit Images/unitIcon and slip then into the proper folder(s) for each scenario that you wish to do this with?

Change unit colours

Is there a simple way to change the German unit colours from ash gray to more of a green/feldgrau colour?

Thanks for that Alvaro. I'm back at your chef d'oeuvre after a break. I understand WP2 is in the works? Very interested to see that.

I've forgotten the login name and password it seems, and am unable to register a new name and password with the same email--any ideas? Thanks.

Re: The Elephant in the Room: Yes, the Counters...

The 1993 War in Russia was ultra modern. Now this is the early days of computer wargaming, War in Russia 1984:

Now that made me happy for hours remembering "those were the days."

Re: The Elephant in the Room: Yes, the Counters...

I too am a veteran gamer and have been gaming since the 70s and I disagree with your comments on the counters but that does not matter. We all like what we like and dislike what we dislike. What I can tell you is that it is a shame for you to be missing out on playing what can only be considered ...

Re: The Elephant in the Room: Yes, the Counters...

Ok thanks for that, it's all just visuals in any case. I suppose it's my own issue here, one that I am attempting to get over as I would very much like to delve into this. I'll wait to see if anyone else agrees with me on this.

The Elephant in the Room: Yes, the Counters...

Long time military history researcher, scenario designer and Ostfrontnik, now in my 70s and less-inclined to be quiet about obvious mistakes.

I'll be blunt here: how on earth was this game redone, spreadsheet and game dynamics-wise, and marketed for over $100 , with counters still looking like you ...

Re: Plan Martin - New Campaign Scenario Available Now in v1.02.00

Yes very interesting.
Also interesting is the fact that Rundstedt had the 5. and 6.Pz Armies swap start positions in the south. Plan Martin assumes that every effort was made to have the northern attack group--mainly II SS.PzK--built up and ready to jump off on December 16th.
