Re: France conquest rules

Yes - take Paris last. And kill more units.

Any major country will not surrender, even after it's lost all of its capitals, if there are sufficient land units remaining. I think the calculation is 3% x no of units?

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

New ELO game:

DmitryN (Allies) vs petedalby (Axis)

I'm like a lamb to the slaughter...but I'm sure it'll be fun!

Re: An Alternative to the Rankings?

If Hamburgermeat reappears I'll certainly put him in A. With yourself in B. And yes, you're probably right! :)

Re: An Alternative to the Rankings?

I agree Harry. But unless / until someone steps up to produce a new ELO system we're kinda stuck.

An Alternative to the Rankings?

Jon - (EarlyDoors) showed me how to do the ELO rankings some time ago. I'm not the most competent IT person and it struck me as hugely complicated. It was made even more so by the number of players who played maybe 1 or 2 games and then disappeared.

In Jon's continued absence I've produced the ...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

New ELO game begins:

HarrySmith(Allies) vs petedalby (Axis)
Game ends in a Decisive Allied Victory in early '44 as the Axis concede. Can't remember the last time either of us won a game as the Axis!

Harry is a great guy to play. Excellent comms & regular turns.

Re: Poland in one turn

I have not been able to use that feature in a while. I was under the impression it was removed as an option from the game for air units.
If the air unit starts its move adjacent to another unit, you can still swap them. If the air unit moves it can't be swapped.

Re: Another Bug or Unintended Consequences?

I like Bill's suggested solution. In my view players should be penalised for doing unhistorical things.

Re: Another Bug or Unintended Consequences?

A quick update. My Strat Bomber can make 2 attacks into Japanese held territory in China but are still unable to attack the same target twice. Which of course makes them completely ineffective...

Re: Another Bug or Unintended Consequences?

Thanks for the prompt reply Bill. India was already fully mobilised. Yes, the USA is neutral.

Any idea why the UK Strat Bomber can't make it's second attack?

Personally I think I'd still prefer to see an attack on the UK as an attack on India if it's already mobilised. India is at war with Germany ...

Another Bug or Unintended Consequences?

PBEM game 494019

Japan has declared war on the UK but not India. A UK Strat Bomber in Ledo has bombed Kweichow once but cannot make its second bombing run. Why not?

Indian units in Burma cannot enter China - despite being allied with China.

Another anomaly - an Indian Corps in Singapore was ...

Looks like you were playing a sore loser...

You get a better quality of opponent if you advertise for a game on here rather than just going random.

Re: HQ attachments

I don't think there's a definitive list. Not sure Platt can attach anyone apart from Sudanese units but he is good for boosting supply as you noted.

I believe Indian HQs can attach Malaysian & Burmese units. But UK HQs can't attach Indian units.

Italian HQs can attach the Slovakian Corps.

You ...

Re: HQ attachments

IIRC Platt comes from Sudan - not India. So I believe he'll be unable to attach Indian units.

Re: Wait, what??

Indeed!

If the Arctic convoys are being killed - just turn them off and keep the MPPs for the UK.

If India is under attack - turn the convoy off to max out the funds.

Re: Wait, what??

Yes - it's always been there.

Go into the Convoy Map. Click on the source - eg India. You'll see the percentage of national income that is being shipped. This can be adjusted using the up & down arrows.

USA convoys to the UK and UK convoys to the USSR can be adjusted in a similar way.
