Interesting, did you test having construction units in several different HQs up the chain (so a corps and army HQ might each contribute one SU)? I was not aware of there being a limit, but I'm not ruling out that there is one. It's likely the coding would be much easier to go combat unit by ...

If it would instantly substitude all, then you could build the "best" Artillery SU and this unit would then instead of getting 150mm get 200mm+ guns without the support elements/manpower those bigger guns usually require in their TOEs.

In all but a few situations initiative is the king of all leader stats.

Followed by Mech/Inf

How close those two are depends on morale/xp. At higher morale initiative becomes even better.

Any of the Soviet Artillery brigades I added.

As you can see in the screenshots they will substitute out the named guns in the toe for the others ONLY on the map.

You also cant send depleted units to the map. So anything that you are short of that has only 1 combat element is unable to be ...

The hidden assignment to construction SUs to combat units to provide fortification level is limited at 1 SU/ 1 CU automatically sends on the largest unit in this case.

Just tested this thoroughly.

Leader checks are not using the remaining percentage of the skill, but the cumulative passing rate.

like best case scenario
33 units for the fronts
7/12 = 58%
9/20 = 45%
Add those two togerher and you get above 100%
but

Germany for for whatever reason has essentially no merchant marine at the start of the game (despite at the time being the 2nd largest) and the attrition rate is much higher than what is described in the manual. This results in a maximum of ~6k freight being moved a turn.

The Sturmmörserwagen 606/4 mit 38 cm RW 61 was developed as a continuation of the assault gun doctrine. It should as such have the same CV. The ability to fire indirectly was simply a result of having been equipped with a rocket based projectile due to the shortage of the original 21cm guns.

Obviously there is a huge amount of undocumented hard code onto how exactly element types work. I have several questions to this.

1. Beethoven IIRC had played around with getting substitutions to work and was not able to discern the exact requirements for this to happen. Could this be detailed?

Likewise the Flak regiments in the mainland should be disbanded and less efficient formations should be generated with excess manpower. This will represent these formations being stripped and left to be manned by factory workers, children, and POWs.

The game has absolutely zero account for the source of SS and Wehrmacht foreign manpower replacements. Essentially you get their historical starting amount of men and thats it.

For reference
LVF had ~5800 French soldiers brought in over its life time.
In game in spawns with its historical 2118 men ...

The support elements on 3rd and 6th panzer have 0 exp, possibly gimping these two units, or at the very least reducing their overall exp.

I only use default settings. The only settings I bother to change at this point are altitude for recon (setting it to the absolute max) and AS directives (also setting it to the max my planes can fly at).



You absolutely do not want to fly at max altitude. Your pilots get their skill reduced ...
