I suppose they are thought to be to vulnerable in the skies over Ukraine? But something tells me the UA would figure out a way to use them. Just a thought.

They could but it takes time to learn a new aircraft and the idea of the "Can ...

Re: Latest patch notes / impressions of the new DLC?

Historical kill rates for SAMs vs maneuvering aircraft of the SAMs same generation is only Around 3%
I never saw it as a issue that those systems were made more realistic in game...1shot 1 kill is a sniper thing not a SAM thing...I'm a bit disappointed that there is an effort to make SAMs back ...

Re: New Update Issue

I have Windows 10 and am also experiencing the same white/grey screen issue, I am curious what exactly changed? the 64bit version works fine just not the slightly newer update.

Also please note also that the system requirements page hasn't been updated and still list DX9C and Windows 7 as valid.

Re: Fuel and the SPEED of SHIPS

We all know that the faster that a plane flies, the more fuel that it uses. But, is the same the case for SURFACE SHIPS?

Looking at a ship, the info box may state that it has 16 hours of fuel left, and it may have 500 miles next to that. Figuring that that is how far that the ship CAN GO, I ...

Re: SAM Defense problem

Iron Dome can't do ABM let alone shoot down Iskander-M, a maneuvering, penetration aid equipped, hypersonic ballistic missile. If the missile/radar somehow had the specs the warhead size is too small to actually do anything.
Arrow/Davids Sling is the Israeli ABM and would be more equipped to have a ...

Re: Making Awesome Maps - QGIS and You

I also strongly suspect that the ability to zoom at extreme scales that CMO allows is a big factor in not being able to have local storage on install and the cost in bandwidth for cloud storage. Thats a lot of graphical data having to be moved scaling from mile in orbit down to individual houses ...

Re: [WAD + TWEAK] Strange Missile Behavior

The firing backwards problem is happening with any fast ballistic target such as an SM-6 in ship attack mode, some of the 9M96D's turn and intercept but others don't and it wastes all the missiles.
They *can* intercept, but the trajectory is wrong.

I am curious where the range data and general ...

Re: Here's a theory....

Real life isn't a Tom Clancy novel, I highly doubt that China is going to invade now since they lack the sealift capacity and would prefer to further build up their navy and most importantly wait until Russia is done with Ukraine and the US is all out of steam in the form of money/weapons and public ...

Can normal RBU's intercept torpedoes? How does the UDAV-1 function?

There is a special naval system called the RBU UDAV-1 "Automatic Counter-Torpedo Rocket Mortar System" with decoy rockets, in-path mining rounds and magnetic homing rounds functioning as a hard and soft kill kinetic system to destroy incoming torpedoes.
Ships that have this are the digital computing ...

Not at the moment, sorry.

Not even the "open" map services?

I've been creating my own map tiles for the look I want by combining Google Earth, Open Street Map, Esri etc. services into QGIS, then run the Generate XYZ Tiles tool which then generates the tiles that match those used in the game ...

(From my GitHub bug report, they can't do this in-game because all SHORAD is listed as SARH not command guided)
Here are a few leaked videos of successful Storm Shadow/GMRLS interceptions and an analysis article on them including estimated intercept ranges.

You'd be really surprised what's still in and operates stuff largely because it's easily serviceable and works. This being said this seems like a reasonable research project and probably worth chasing. I'll do it.

All the new stuff uses a Russian designed/made CPU arch called "Elbrus", the older ...

I seem to have ruffled some feathers.

"non existent AI"

This is absolutely not true. CMO has one of the best AIs in gaming/simulation. And thats because the way its built gives the scenario designer excellent control over how the AI operates and reacts. Having lua available and the plethora of ...

At least 2 missiles impacted, the one in the air and another that had already caused the visible damage in the HQs.

Admiral Sokolov, the commander of the Black Sea Fleet, is claimed to be one of the casualties, but who knows.

As I suspected he's still alive - here's a video of the "dead ...

Can someone explain the tl;dr of all the charts and graphs above? is the new behavior actually realistic? I am in any case confused how secretive systems like the 40N6 are modeled or what its actual intended use case is for.

How to download all map and satellite image data?

I am tired of the constant load/chop from having to download stuff from servers every time I zoom in, or getting black squares if my internet goes out.

At least for specific regions.
How can I download all of it at once? Is there a torrent of it to save dev bandwidth costs?
I don't care how big it ...

Mobile S400 batteries with a GRAVE STONE engagement radar and a CHEESE BOARD search radar may keep the radars off if a BIG BIRD battalion level jumbo search radar or A-50U AWACS is nearby and able to provide early warning, ideally there would also be a 3x Pantsyr close protection detail ...

Re: SAM/A2A CCS tech levels/reaction times

More problems: naval variants lack the reaction time of their land counterparts.
Land SA-15 is 6 seconds
its naval counterpart the SA-N-9 is 36 seconds due to its host platforms reaction time on Udaloy I, despite the naval version being made to be significantly better - its computer takes up an ...

SAM/A2A CCS tech levels/reaction times

I just can't believe that a PAC-1 has a reaction time of 6 seconds but that the S300V4, S300PM2 (in game as export PMU-2, Buk-M2, Buk-M3 etc have an absolutely massive reaction time of 36 seconds and are listed as having analog computers. This goes also for their naval versions, with an Admiral ...
