Re: Logistics

What a mess! There was never a shortage of supplies on either side; everyone had food in abundance. There was never a shortage of weapons, nor did either side ever have food problems. However, after the war there was a lot of hunger, hardship, and dictatorship. You've really outdone yourselves with ...

Re: Axis Openings to Grand Strategy Guide

Great info Umeu! What are your thoughts on Sea Lion? Have you tried it against a decent player and how do you get set-up for it?

I think Sealion before Barbarossa is not good. It gives too much mobilization bonus to USSR & US,.

It turns out that in 99% of cases, the USSR enters the war if ...

Re: The New AI is better but..

Hi

Just to clarify: AI controlled units receive the same supply and cannot move any further than human controlled ones. It is not cheating here, and you could test it out by loading up a previous save and switching sides.

Thanks Bill for the clarification. This tank comes from Milan, has ...

The New AI is better but..

The new AI is better, Germany now actually has mobility; but it still cheats a bit (see the German tank in Toulouse that doesn't have a supply but moves as if it did). It still hasn't captured Paris and the Russians are coming.

Re: Desert lack of supply death trap

Could you confirm the units? e.g. Italian and/or German are doing this?

Allied units do same, once Khartoum was taken by the Italians, the Canadian Tank embarked in Canada and disembarked in Guinea and headed towards the oasis but remained in the dead zone, although sometimes it approached ...

Re: France conquest rules

I read the recent discussion about the French morale boost for surviving into Fall '40 and I also understand why France has to get a morale boost if the Germans elect to go for "all of France" and aim to take Algiers. If France didn't get such a boost, then it would very likely surrender due to ...

Re: War In Spain !

This is going to be a disaster; there are no tanks, the fighting will be in the mountains; the Italians in Valencia are doing nothing, the Germans are in the air unopposed , and the ships are almost nonexistent; boredom is what it takes.
Unless Franco makes his foray into Madrid; the Republicans ...

Re: Pilots - Japan

So how many new pilots are actually "coming"

If I look at the numbers in tracker for instance for the army as Japan its

Repl rate 500
Month 1-3 1489
Month 4-6 868
Month 7-9 560
Month 10-12 578

So that gives if the numbers are somewhat steady, about 160-190 new pilots per month. But I felt it ...

Look at the aircraft table that helps with this excellent AAR. It's both old and not-so-old.
Don't mess around too much; just get resources and oil to OSAKA.

Re: Back in the Game Again

Definitely PDU ON, this way you only make 12 Oscars for the gorse, who are very good in China for training pilots, and you can make 350 gorse quickly and train with them.
You also avoid making 500 Oscars or more, which is a waste of engines and pilots who are in an Oscar, the Oscar and the pilot fall.

Re: Battleships Run From Carriers in Suface Combat?

Playing against AI as Japan as I am trying to learn the economics of Japanese. In July of 42 I got a chance to put a surface combat TF in the path of a US task force that my search planes said had a CV in it. They met in the AM naval phase and it was every Japanese surface fleet admiral’s dream; 4 ...

Re: What is your experience with Japanese Fighters in 1944+ in PBEM games?

My first ever PBEM game (Scenario 1) has reached July 1944 and so I have had some experience with Ki-84r Frank's and N1K1 George (I messed up production so no later version of George until their historical dates).

What has surprised me is the effectiveness of the N1K1 George in air to air combat ...
