Launch not working, launch fix doesn't fix it

I am playing the newest version but I cannot open the game. I have played the game before in the past on the same machine.

The game opens for a few seconds and closes. Please advise?

NOTE - reinstall doesn't fix it.

Thanks

Re: Poll - War In Spain

while I selected "pick a different conflict", that is because I want more of this game. I'm still new to historical war games but WiS is my fav by a large margin.

Re: WiF matching boardgame?

There is one major difference even if you can find and buy WiFFE (now superseded by the Collector's Edition - CWiF). The map in MWiF is European scale for the whole world. Originally you could buy the map pack here but you'd need an area about 27 feet long by 9 feet high to use it with everything ...

I want to buy the WiF game box verson that matches the Matrix WiF game.

Is it WiFFE v6 or v7 that his game is based on?

Now I can see how great this game is...

Originally, I dismissed this game because it didn't run "smoothly".

But, after a few computer war games, I got into board games. And I loved the board games, they are a good teacher in why learning the rules are important.

Anyway, now that I have played board games, I can appreciate computer war ...

Re: Help me understand this attack report

It is meant as a multiplayer (non-AI) game.

There are 8 regimes, but they are divided up into 3 main groups.

There is the Axis (the main villain, they can attack everyone, even small nations): Germany, Italy, Japan

The USSR (also bad guys), they too can attack everyone.

And then there are the ...

Please call me Chuck.

The videos by Tortuga Power are top grade.

Vic wrote a spectacular program, and has gone on to many good things.

I have been playing this game for over a decade. I learn new thing every game.

I play a Mod done by Claus Füssel, a Dane, and Alexandre Fenelon, a Brazilian ...

The tutorial scenarios are amazing

Whoever made these tutorial scenarios really knows what they are doing. Not only are these great for learning the different unit functions, they are a great tutorial on how to solo-wargame.

For anyone else looking for the tutorial docs, it's here: https://www.vrdesigns.net/atwiki/doku.php?id=tut ...

Re: Help me understand this attack report

There has never been an armored car that did not tremble at the sighting of an AT gun.

:o

HA! got it.

Also, your point about "hasty" is accurate. I really tried to rush in and fight. But I learned a lesson about how rounds work and how when units are out of AP, they retreat.

I also took the ...

I just realized that I am using AT guns vs armored cars instead of bazooka's.

That might be part of it.

Help me understand this attack report

Hi all,

So, I had two units. 120 rangers + 3 AT guns verses the AI 50 rangers.

both my units moved before attacking and were at half AP.

All my units retreated because out of AP.

I thought that, because I was at half AP, then my power would be "around half". which is still much more than them ...

And now it works again.

Not sure what happened, the only new thing was that I installed steam.

My game no longer opens?

When I double click WiS via launcher or directly, the window opens and then immediately closes.

I am not sure what is going on.

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions

are most people here is playing this game as solitaire?

If yes, can you talk me through how you do that and how you make it enjoyable?

For example, because you known what you did with side one, are you playing to beat what you did last term? and then repeat?

Re: WiS players: do you recommend WiTP:AE?

I'd say the only thing that is so much worse in witp is the AI.

Agreed. But I wouldn't call it "AI" in WiTP:AE. I far as I know, at start the games (Japan as PC-player) chooses a script and will work on this till the bitter end. RangerJoe pointed at this topic already.

So if the allies are ...

I like this game but... I struggle with the "slowness"

TOAWIV was the second war game I ever bought and the first from matrix.

I love the mechanics and how things work. But man I really cannot stand how "janky" it feels.

Now, it must be stated that "janky" is subjective. My first war game was war in the east 1 (on steam). And comparatively, when I ...
