Re: All things Football (soccer) related

Heartache!

The next world cup is 4 years away and it will be played on the other side of the world in a terrible time zone so I feel the Matildas will disappear off the Australian radar.

Because it looks like children playing with toy tanks. It is not a wargame at all.

Re: If you had to pick, computer or board....

Project the screen onto a massive screen on the wall.

Then play a computer wargame H2H with both players in the same room.

We would need to invent special goggles. The goggles would allow me to see my troops but stop me from seeing enemy troops that are hidden due to fog of war.

Re: Greyhound

I saw the movie advertised. Due to Covid it never got to the big screen. I was visiting my brother. He has an Apple TV so we watched it through that back in about July 2020.

This is a movie I will not see twice.

The scenes on the bridge with Tom Hanks were terrific! I suspect that they are ...

Elvis had 2 good songs, many poor movies and a terrible diet.

His time was over before my time came along.

Once he got rich he didn't know how to handle it.

Re: Best UI in a computer hex based wargame?

Stacking should never be more than 4 units as otherwise too hard to manage.

Some modern games have the data as a pop up when hovering over a hex. I find it annoying as I move the mouse around and pop ups appear and disappear. Instead click on a hex and a display opens in a side bar providing the ...

Re: Moving my Wife from Pc to Imac.... thoughts?

I am a Windows guy.

I have a Mac Mini because I use it to watch Youtube on my TV.

I have iTunes on my Windows desktop but I also have iTunes on my Mac Mini. I use the Mac Mini to play music when we have a BBQ.

Therefore I have limited knowledge of Apple.

The windows feature of a Mac is ...

Re: A Moral Question about WW2

The Pact of Steel between Hitler and Stalin was signed in May of 1939. It included the agreement to divide Poland.

So, the Danzig corridor issue, in August of 1939, made no difference.

Because that is my experience.

There is a battle and a time stamp placed.
All units across the map have their movement points reduced.

As a corollary, don't move your units through a hex with a timestamp either if you care about their movement points.

This should be worded as:
...don't move your units through a hex with a timestamp either if you care about the movement points of units way over on the other side of the map that ...

Re: What War in the East 1943 looks like on the tabletop

I would never play this game. However, imagine........

A wargame projected onto a screen covering a whole wall in a house.
Fog of war is "OFF" for the spectators
The players are sitting in lounge chairs.
The players are wearing a special pair of goggles which for the players means that fog of war ...
