RE: I'm done with this ridiculous time vampire of a game.

+1 to CF. My attitude is that "you don't have to do everything every turn; you just have to do SOMETHING every turn."

RE: I'm done with this ridiculous time vampire of a game.

As an aside, I just finished reading "Rising Sun, Falling Skies." Given the outrageous (but actual) events detailed there, my primary conclusion is that the players in AE have far too easy a time in managing and directing their military assets!

Also, note that the colors are different for ASW searches as opposed to naval searches.

RE: Allied a/c replacements

<t> I don't think the important point is the capture/damage issue, but rather the fact that the "production" numbers (based on factories) upgrade to new models when available, whereas the "replacement" numbers just go away after the specified dates. E.g., if an aircraft has a replacement rate of 20 ...

RE: "hit but failed to explode" Ouch!

<t> Had an interesting (?) thought based on this thread. I wonder if it would be possible to add a simple counter that would keep track of the "hit but failed to explode" results. After "x" of these results, the first "dud reduction" would occur. After "y" more of these results, the second "dud ...

RE: Permanent sync bug

Make absolutely certain that you and your PBEM partner are running the exact same versions of the .exe file. Different versions the most likely cause of being out-of-synch.

RE: Carrier aircraft replacement

I don't think the process is manual: if the conditions are met (normal range, replenishment TF, etc.) it just happens automatically (or doesn't -- seems to be some randomness built in?)

RE: House rules for impregnable Allied armour

<t> It is probably important to note that if this is an issue (and I don't think it probably is), it isn't limited to allied armor. I have seen similar results early in the my games with IJA tank units against the Dutch: attacks at low odds, inflicting casualties on defenders but none on the ...

RE: Slow game play

Under Windows 8, I have the same problem which I could not solve by any combination of switch settings that I could find. It was solved by running in a Window, rather than full screen, though.

The documentation is vague on purpose.

Note that you CAN change the search arc direction between clockwise and counterclockwise, by clicking on "clockwise" (or "counterclockwise" after you have changed it).

You know you have spent too much time with WITP AE when you see "FAA" in the title of the post, and you think "Fleet Air Arm."

Very interesting! I knew that the abbreviations reflected the change in bridge design on the Fletchers, but I had never been able to figure out what HB and LB actually stood for!

On LCU display: + next to under-strength devices that are in pool,

One small but interesting thing that I have noticed: if there are devices in the pool, but the device is set to "stockpile", then the "+" indicator does not show.

At small ports (can't remember the size limit), you have to tell the TF to dock. At larger ports, they will dock automatically when they arrive.

<r> Joe, what you need to do is go to "Properties" for the shortcut, and put in the switches after the path to the shortcut itself (and outside of the quotation marks you will around it in properties). These threads may help see how it works: <br/>

Possible bug in "Set future objective"?

<t> I thought I had seen this mentioned in another thread, but can't find it at the moment, so sorry if this is a repeat. I understand (and like) the change that lets a ground unit sometimes keep some planning points when "set future objective" is changed. It looks to me, though, like this is not ...

RE: Win 8.1 and AE

<t> You will need to use the "switches" as described in the "What's new" section of the patch notes. Do NOT use the "-f" switch, which means "run in full screen". Instead, use "-w -px#### -py####". The "-w" tells the program to run in windowed mode; for the -px and -py switches, replace the ...
