Newbie looking for 1st email game

Howdy. Looking for someone to play a smaller scenario with in order to help me learn the game and the email protocol.

Thanks,

Scouters,

When I want troops only, I create my own AP TFs, ensuring they are JUST the size I need to carry those troops and no more (give or take a teeny bit).

<r>Hey! I finally experienced the "disappearing planes bug." For the longest time, I was using the Long Island to ferry Army fighter a/c from Brisbane up to Lunga/Luganville. Never had a problem.<br/>

However, last night, I landed a dozen stranded F4Fs on her, and POOF! They are gone. Oh well ...

Nerod,

I believe that, historically, the Long Island was used as a ferry, for lack of a better term. Now, I'm not sure if that precludes being able to conduct air ops from her decks or not.

Matrix?

<r>The 'limited reaction' to which you refer is - I think - a direct result of commander ratings. I've not performed extensive tests, but I have experimented a bit - out of necessity - with TF commanders to try and get different (better) results. The problem MAY be that you set them to follow the AP TF. The CVs can cover them from afar, making it best - imho - to 'station' them nearby so as to be able to cover ingress/unload/egress, rather than giving them 'follow' orders.

Just a guess.

<r>Also, Buket, you may want to set your Carrier TF to "Do Not React to Enemy," lest they charge into harm's way. Depending upon the length of the transport operation, you may need to create a replenishment TF to follow the Carrier TF so as to allow them to remain on station. Remember, however, that ...

<r>I really don't understand the argument to lower turn execution to 6 hrs (more or less) in order to be more comfortable with the distances covered per turn. 22 hexes in 24 hours or 6 hexes in 6 hours. Anyone playing "hands-off?"

<t>I'm looking for feedback from anyone who is playing 5-, 6-, or 7-day turns. I'm interested to hear how you like it (or not). I'd especially like to hear feedback from those out here who may have played both some 1-day turns and some on the longer settings.<br/>

Good points. One addition - in the same vein:

* Add a single line on the air group main screen that gives the avg fatigue of the pilots in that group. As it stands, you have to go one level 'deeper' to find this.

Cliff,

There was another discussion about this very same thing. I can't recall the explanation (or solution or whatever), but a search may turn it up.

So far, I've been able to use the Long Island as a ferry without any problems. Weird, I know.
