Patriot

<t>Just for the record the Patriot deployed to the Gulf was not designed to shoot down an incoming ballistic missile. It was such an excellent AAW sysem that it was sent there because trying was better than no defense at all. I have no experience to speak to the PAC3 generation Patriot that is now ...

Parade is mispelled

<t>Eclid,<br/>
I'm not going to argue with an "expert" but reading your other posts you seem to base a lot of your information on dated examples. Since the EW rate was created in the mid 80's and I'm not sure how long ago you actually were at sea, I can't understand why you seem so certain that the ...

AEGIS

<t>I can say from experience that the fleet air defense capabilities of a modern US CVBG could easily deal with an kamikaze airliner. In the open ocean good luck finding the battle group and in a high threat littoral aor good luck even getting close. The SPY-1B and SPY-1D sytems protecting the ...

hull speed

<t>I'm not a naval engineer, but I am a certain I remember from my days onboard a USN FF that ship speeds ultimately are a function of hull speed that is part of the design. No matter how much power you can put in through the shafts, a ship will only go as fast as that hull design permits. So nuke ...

<t>I'm afraid H4 is going to be a big disappointment. I was following some of their forum when they opened it not long ago and some of the answers that the developers were providing made me feel like SH2, DC and Fleet Command all over again. example... with "fog of war" enabled if the player chooses ...

oops...

Sorry shipmate, I had FFG-7 stuck in my head and typed DDG-7. Thanks for correcting me. Hopefully Charlie Adams will forgive me. I spent some time crossdecking on the Barney (DDG-6) trying to learn about Standard missles. That ship was a blast to drive!

Missing in UV but needed in WITP

<t>I miss the letter/number designations of the ships being listed. I really appreciated the patch that added ship class information and it was so well done with the AAW and ASW ratings but I would still like to see the designations in WITP. <br/>
Here's why I think it might be needed. Yorktown ...

Wardroom gets it for free...

<t>Last night I started over editing scenario 19 and have had no problems... but to answer your question on the frist turn at sea the ammo quantity first went to zero and then on the next turn the weapons mounts began diappearing... by the way my Grandma was born in Griffin, Ga. small world ...

Destroyers expending their loadouts

<t>I have tried the editor for the first time adjusting some of the experience and morale levels and adding a new fictional admiral named for my Navy CPO grandfather who served in the South Pacific from 1943-1945. I have not modified any of the weapons systems or their loadouts. At the beginning of ...

Quick reference source

<t>I have found that "The Pacific War Enyclopedia" by James F. Dunnigan and Albert A. Nofi is an excellent reference source for many aspects of UV. It provides some excellent aircraft and ship references as well as time lines and maps ( maps are small ). It was published in 1998 by Checkmark Books ...

Bermuda Triangle ???

<t>It's May 1942, My big Fleet Carrier Lexington has been sunk so I transfer 16 SBD's from PM where they diverted to the deck of the mighty CVE Long Island. I checked to see if they are onboard and then proceeded with my turn. Next turn the SBD's have all disappeared. Next I transfered the remnants ...

<t>I just today completed scenario#16 played on the historical settings (JAP SUB DOC ON, US DAMAGE CONTROL ON) and I cannnot emphasize enough that patience early on is the key. <t>The quality of these graphics updates remind me of some of the fantastic work I've seen on Combat Mission's original artwork. The floatplane on the Yamato is amazing. Incredible work guys!!!
