RE: WPO Wishlist

<t> I know it has already been said, but airships and blimps would certainly add a fantastic dimension to the game. The USS Akron and USS Macon were "flying aircraft carriers" and carried 4 Sparrowhawk fighters. Other rigid airships and blimps could be used for recon and light bombing. New ships ...

RE: Some questions

I have also found the auto convoy system lacking and do not use it. I do use compter controlled automatic convoys that I set up myself to just run appropriate materials between active bases, but that is it.

RE: Oil/Resource transport strategies

<t> Is there any real reason for an Allied player to ship resources/oil? It seems the West Coast bases are always well supplied with oil and resources. Australian bases have a bunch of resources, but oil is scarce. The same goes for Karachi, Bombay, and Singapore. I have been hauling oil to ...

Best camoflage ever!

<t> Apparently Japanese paratroopers are the supreme masters of the art of camoflage. I retook Brunei with British forces and the Japanese garrison of paratroopers retreated to the base just to the left of Brunei. It then disappeared. Multiple recons of the base showed nothing there. A British force ...

RE: Base control

<t> The Allies "own" the base. The base seems to draw supply and I can launch airstrikes from it, but the HQ is set to Southern Fleet. I recently disbanded a TF here and on the next turn it set out on computer control to Kuching (a Japanese held base.) More of an annoyance than anything else, I just ...

Base control

Ver 1.1
Scenario 15

I captured Camranh Bay with Commonweath forces and I cannot change the base command. It is set to Southern Fleet and has a US base symbol. I changed it to Southeast Asia command twice (at a cost of 1800 PP each time), but it changes back on the next turn.

RE: What we do like from WitP

<t> Basically, I dreamed about this game better than 20 years ago when I was playing SSI's Guadalcanal Campaign on my Apple II+ for hours on end. I thought it would be so cool to be able to play the whole war out in the entire arena. There have been some previous attempts at this, but I was ...

RE: How much to you concentrate your forces?

<t> As of right now (Jun/42) I like to keep my Allied carriers concentrated in two TF's in the same hex. I have only 5 CV's, no CVL's and one CVE at this point, but the IJN has (7?) CV's, 2-3 CVL's, and 2-3 CVE's. The Enterprise is repairing after 2 torpedoes hit her so that leaves me four CV's and ...

RE: The Shock Attack

<t> One advantage to shock attack that has not been mentioned as of yet is that it gives your the option of pursuing the enemy when they disengage. This is especially useful with armored units as they will usually move into the hex with the retreating units on the same turn as the attack. I have ...

RE: ASW Patrols

<t> A trick I learned from playing UV is to not just let your SC units sit in port until a sub is spotted nearby. Put them into a task force (ASW in War in the Pacific, I used Surface in UV) and just keep them going out and back in on "shakedown" cruises. This will (very, very, slowly) increase ...

<t> Just for fun I tried suprise and historical first turn off and made my moves based on my knowledge of the attack. RE: Need Some Advice--Defending the Phillipines

<t> Just for information, the PI supply run from Karachi was a dismal failure. Luck counts in war and I had none that day. The Japanese carriers that I had not seen for over a month showed up in the South China Sea as the 15 ship AK-only convoy headed east. Needless to say, there are now 15 fully ...
