RE: 1.602 patch

Just a note. I'm finding that the aircraft path options have all reverted to the single choice mode (that was originally present) when using the beta 1.602 patch. Anyone else notice this?

RE: What do I use these ship types for?

<t> If you order 6 or 8 AGs to load supplies, and the trip is more than a couple of hexes, one of the AGs will load fuel to help in extending the range. At least that's how it used to work.<br/>

I used them much more extensively in the previuos UV game because the short range between islands ...

RE: PBYs

<t> In some circumstances (especially where your base is remote) you can use smaller, non combat vessels to run patrols along the perimeter of your PBY search area (in combination with your sub patrols). You don't really need an escort to protect them from subs in such cases and it forces the ...

RE: Japanese LCUs

<t> The Japanese base forces have TOE that typically gives them about 40 squads of SNLF or infantry, which gives them a respectable assault value. Special base forces have even more assault strength as well as substantial AV support. All bfs are weak in engineers and essentially lack engineering ...

RE: Japanese LCUs

<t> You should be aware that the standard assault division is substantially larger for the Japanese than the Allies. While Allied divisions have 300-375 rifle squads in them the main Japanese divisions have about 450. Japanese light divisions and brigades (which are found most commonly in China and ...

RE: Coastal Guns

<t> The structure of your landing forces and method of attack can make a difference too. I typically incorporate a couple of CA/CLs, plus some DDs, PG,s and MSWs into the assault convoy. CA/CL's can hold their own against most of the shore batteries below 8 inch. The DD's and gunboats will be hurt ...

<t> Hi, just re-activating this thread to see if there has been any progress made in this area through the different patches.<br/>

My main problem is Gumma, the largest aircraft production centre that Japan has. Because its inland, its very hard to keep at the necessary supply levels and ...

RE: Q about the AI

<t> As with the other replies, I get a lot of fun playing against the AI. However, you have to be willing to use a more or less conventional stragegy because the AI doesn't adapt well to "creative" attacks. In addition, I sometimes refrain from pouncing on obvious blunders by the AI (such as sending ...

RE: Convoy escorts

<t> I have been playing as the Japanese and find myself chronically short of escorts to include in convoys. As a result I deal with convoys in several ways.<br/>

The larger, sustaining convoys with tankers and large AKs are protected by two or maybe 3 PC/PG/MSW and follow very twisted ...

<t> The way the game works makes sense to me. In an AI game I'm playing, I've noticed that while there are high air-to-air losses early in the war for the Allies, the operational losses for the Japanese are huge in comparison to the Allies. One in four total losses for the Japanese are due to ...

RE: Air supply

<t> I used a gamey kind of ploy in China against the AI that could possibly work. There were 10-12 divisions of Chinese Nationals cut off, south of the central rail line. Rather than attacking with 2-1 odds I moved in just enough troops so that I out numbered the allies by about 1.5 to 1. The ...

<t> I'm not sure why you're now winning the ground combat if you're attacking with the reported 7-1 odds, but I have seen this happen at lesser (3-1) odds when you are attacking with units that don't have combat engineers against a fortified position.<br/>
