Quick question about the system reqs

<t> I'm just wondering about the 128M Graphic Card in the System Requirements. Is it an absolute must or was it just a guesstimate when writing them up? Is anyone successfully playing this on an older 64M card. <br/>

I suppose you could but I just looked at an xml and it is so much easier to use the editor.<br/>

I guess the scenario editor that we use is the "programatically" "generated" thing that you are talking about.<br/>

<t> Similar question. Would it be possible to create a scenario programatically?&nbsp;If I understand correctly, you guys are using XML files for a lot of things, so conceivably it would be possible to have those files generated? <br/>
I have no idea if I would have the energy to ever try to do ...

RE: Weblog posting on AI

<t> Hi Vic, <br/>
<br/>
Nice read. <br/>
<br/>
A little off on the chess part though. Cheap computer chess programs can now clobber 99.9% of the playing population without much trouble and the best has even beaten the World champion in a long match. In chess AI, the feeling is pretty much ...

Quick question about system requirements

Is anyone trying to run this on a PC with less than the recommended 1.5G memory? <br/>
Just wondering if it's possible at all and if more than the turn resolution speed will be affected. <br/>

RE: Semi-Interactive AAR: Return Road to Kharkov

<t> I wouldn't want to move the PzIII's up too much more before the infantry get further up. I'd rather scout with the infantry. <br/>
Infantry rest...Is the reserve platoon tired? Can we push 3rd ahead of 1 on the right while 1 and 2 rest? I'd hate to not make any progress on getting through the ...

<t> One or two of the PZ IIIs fire smoke on the suspected T-34 position. The rest keep dealing with the T-70s. <br/>

Rush the other Pz III's up to the same line and even up the odds. Let's gamble there aren't any ATGs hiding that held fire. <br/>

RE: Semi-Interactive AAR: Return Road to Kharkov

Dismount. Infantry clear the woods...or see how far they can get. More weight on the right side of the road than the left...maybe 70/30. Try to find out how much of the road is safe.

1) I had a wonderful scenario in a campaign game (those things that people put together using Excel files and rules to generate quick battles and carry units forward) absolutely ruined because my air support which I ...

RE: Sorry, long-term fan who's had enough

<t> But it could be done in a random, unpredictable and fairly subtle manner just by varying the amount of AI shift in each game. Would you really blatantly notice it if one or two units were shifted from empty parts of the map to where your attack edge was? More likely, it would just feel like the ...

RE: Sorry, long-term fan who's had enough

<t> I don't think even chess programs claim to find the perfect moves.&nbsp;But with the system that most of them use, they do have a great ability to filter out all of the patently bad moves. In most chess positions, most of the moves you =can= make are bad or don't do anything for you. <br/>

RE: Sorry, long-term fan who's had enough

<t> The chess analogy as you presented it is not entirely correct here. <br/>
It didn't simply access it's memory. It's able to evaluate the value of each position due to a scoring algorithm programmed by experts. There is no "perfect move". There are moves with higher scores than others. <br ...

<t> You know, I think they can get way better perceived AI quality just by improving the deployment algorithm a little bit. <t> One thing I don't like about night in CC. The large number of active tanks in some battles. I'm&nbsp;not a total grog but I'm pretty sure the Western Allies never, ever fought with tanks at night and I'm pretty sure the Germans didn't do it very often either (yeah, yeah the attack on the Arnhem ...
