I heard reports about freighters dropping the resources from salvaging, on getting a different mission.
I hope those are just teleported to the capitol. It would be confusing, but better then stuff just vanishing.
This isn't salvaging, these freighters are loading from a mining station ...

No manual way to load them.
If the ship is on automatic and a colonisation is queued, it will usually pick a colony with a fitting population.
However, it grabs every population type from the planet - not just the actuall one that is suitable.

Have you read my post? The only way to control which pop get´s loaded onto a colony ship is to do it manually.

I think planets below a certain population are not eligible for Colonist retreival.

I think the problem is that when creating a fleet, the game design forces you into using the premade ship types (Escort, Frigate, Destroyer, etc.) in the left had fields. Instead, just get rid of the left hand fields. The right fields would be drop down boxes listing every active military ship ...

I have discovered a work around for this. When I select the colony, then set automation to manual, I see these negative values in the data field. So what I do is:
Click the tab that says Hide Unused Resources.

I don't understand the suitability value as expressed in the tool tip. The Galactopedia says we should strive to colonize planets with 20 or more suitability, but the tool tip shows it as '+x' which means it is additive to..something. What does it add to?

If you hover over the planet quality in the bottom left, it should tell you the Suitability by race on that planet.
We plan to add additional warnings about low suitability in the UI as soon as we finish dealing with critical issues.
