RE: The Good The Bad & The Indifferent

<t> Looking at your screenshot of the ships under repair at Columbo, I noticed that you were using more shipyard tonnage then you had capacity (44k vs 40k). At the same time, you had a couple of DDs with only Sys damage being repaired in the shipyard mode. Unless I am mistaken, you could flip them ...

RE: Japanese ships mostly found origin in British design?

<t> Without trying to equate ships and plans of RN/FAA with IJN, I would like to remind that one British aircraft carrier (HMS Illustrious) launched a grand total of 21 Swordfish against Taranto in 1940 and sank 1 Italian battleship and seriously damaged 2 others. Truly a fantastic result! I shudder ...

RE: The PERFECT WAR Mod: Allied Side

<t> What about UK choosing to continue building Ark Royal-class carriers instead of Illustrious-class? Quick check on Wikipedia indicates that Ark Royal was cheaper at over 3M pound sterling vs 3.8M for the first Illustrious. Lower cost could lead to having more units in service by 1941 and/or more ...

<t> As far as I remember from my games, you can not invide Djambi by sea. You can capture it via paradrop and then airlift troops in. Given the amount of transport aviation that Japan enjoys, reinforcements can be shifted in very quickly. This would only work after Singapore is captured or totally ...

Need to re-install

<t> Hello! <br/>
<br/>
I recently re-imaged my computer and need to re-install my WiTP AE on it. I can not find the CD with the game but as far as I remember, I have payed for the version that had both physical delivery option and digital download. Is it possible to download the game years after I ...

RE: Mediterranean Scenario

What do you guys think about doing Norway '40 scenario? The map would have to be built just like for Med (although on a smaller scale) but the nature of the land combat would make it a better fit IMHO

As far I saw in my game, you can re-combine some of these companies into a para-capable battalion

RE: What were the Brits thinking?

Real quick - British did build a large-deck carrier BEFORE armoured deck carriers - Ark Royal. It had much larger aircraft capacity and was in many ways similar to the Yorktown-class USN carriers

RE: What were the Brits thinking?

<t> Some time ago I got fascinated by the various "strange" design decisions made by the British before WW2 - Cruiser/Infantry tanks, Armoured Carriers with a handful planes each, upward-shooting "fighter" planes, short pants worn by general officers, etc.<br/>
I found some of the answers in a ...

RE: Video problems

<t> Thx everyone. My older laptop had&nbsp;1Gb of RAM while newer one has 2Gb of RAM yet the older one has no problem running WITP.&nbsp;I made sure not to run anything else and even went as far as hacking my registry to increase GDI handles by 50%. Based on the GDI handle count, there should have ...

RE: Video problems

WITP did set resolution to 1024x768 (at least it looked that way). I did reboot :) and I am using XP. Both full-screen and windowed mode had the same issue. Thx

Video problems

<t> Hi. In preparation to the release of AE, I have installed WITP on my newer laptop - Lenovo T61 running XP with NVidia Quadro NVS 140M video card - since my older Toshiba with WITP installed would not be able to handle AE. After the install, I patched it all the way to 1.806. Everything went fine ...

An idea on how to simulate AK usage by the Japan's economy

<t> Hi, everyone. I have seen many posts on this forum discussing the need to correctly simulate the fact that many of the Japan's AKs were used to ferry food, etc around Home Islands and could not be used for resource/troop transport in far away places like South Pacific or Dutch East Indies. What ...

RE: Admirals Edition Land Thread

<t> Andy, thank you for the prompt response. I hate to say this but it feels that the current WiTP handles withdrawals of British ships a bit better. It gives you the freedom to withdraw any BB/CA/DD/etc. Have you given any thought to giving&nbsp;a&nbsp;player&nbsp;an option to withdraw any US Inf ...

RE: Admirals Edition Land Thread

While following this thread, I have noticed several references to LCU withdrawal. Could someone please shed more light on how this will work? If I have a unit scheduled for withdrawal engaged against enemy, would it just disappear on a pre-set date? Thank you
