EDIT: Look at TFs. There are a lot loaded on TFs to start. Some Aussie brigades are also not restricted. <br/>

Go to the all units button on the top menu and check them out there, as it will show those on ships as well.<br/>

Restricted Units in Guadalcanal Scenario - I don't understand this

<t> I just bought AE and thought I'd get warmed up to WitP once again with the Guadalcanal scenario. It was always my favorite in the original game. So I spend days plowing once more through the manual, update everything, open up Guadalcanal, and what ground troops do I have to play with? Two marine ...

RE: Why is sonar not listed in ship equipment

Because I'd guess the "Anti-Submarine" rating of a ship is considered an adequete representation of this piece of equipment.

RE: Trouble with attacking CVs

<t> I've been meaning to start a post asking if anyone has some tactics they've found useful for CV vs. CV encounters myself (though it sounds like samuraigg's problem may have just been overcrowding).<br/>

I'm wary to say even this, but about the only hunches I have so far are:<br/>

RE: ships stop unloading

I know it's obvious, but make sure your task force isn't still set to "do not unload". Troops seem to disembark under this setting, but supplies won't. Hope someone else will give you a better tip.

RE: Sub hunting in the Great Barrier Reef

The general impression I've gathered of WWII sub operations is that remaining surfaced during daylight hours was the norm, and that submerging during daylight hours when no specific threat or target was present was the exception.

RE: Index for Manual

<t> One guy got pissed at me for "reminding" him that there was a search feature in Acrobat, but I at least was overlooking using this method for a bit. Using search and the electronic version of the manual can really help you find some of the more arcane information you need to quickly (if you ...

And thanks to Wildhack for pointing out that there is a search tool in Adobe.

You're welcome. Always nice to see someone who's polite enough to say thanks.

RE: road/rail coloring-what's the meaning behind this?

<t> I just took a quick peak at the manual again (and was reminded why I'm still confused). Anyway, the "R" key will light up (another) display of roads in which I think the colors are red=trail, rust=road, brown=railroad/highway. At least this would correspond to the regular map view (which I ...

RE: road/rail coloring-what's the meaning behind this?

I'm pretty sure brown line is trail, silver line is road, black line is rail/highway.

RE: F4F-3s versus F4F-4s armor, etc

<t> I haven't played one of the grand campaigns yet, but I've noticed (in SouthPac at least, around late June '42) that F4F-3 replacements stop coming. So for instance I upgraded one F4F-3 squadron, and then it's planes went into the replacement pool to keep my other F4F-3 squadron flying a bit ...

RE: Today in history

<t> I was a little surprised MacArthur was rated so low by the WitP designers. <br/>
<br/>
He was a pompous ass to be sure...and low points might be the failed counter march against Buna, or his underestimation of Chinese intentions in the Korean war. But Inchon was certainly a daring masterstroke ...

RE: Ordering attack & capture before unloading complete?

<t> Yeah, another good tip Irrelevant. Though I've now started another scenario (this one was all fouled up, I'm just learning the game), my Transport task force was indeed still set to "Do Not Unload".<br/>

RE: Which Ship........

<t> Well...the Ward sank a (midget) sub on Dec 7th, and the Monaghan sank another one later in the day. So that's two on day one. And I really can't believe there weren't many others in the next four years. So it seems you have your facts mixed up. Now speaking of German U-boats, I certainly know ...

RE: Ordering attack & capture before unloading complete?

<t> Hmm...it's been 4 turns already (troops are unloading and caualties message being given each turn), and still no ground units are being listed in the information window. But as I said, the AI seems to be able to capture the port ok. In fact, the AI routinely seems to capture undefended port ...

Ordering attack & capture before unloading complete?

<t> My situation is I'm attacking an undefended enemy port hex, but unloading my AP looks like it's going to take around a month to complete. And though a friendly ground unit icon has appeared in the hex being attacked, there are no ground units listed in the information box yet with which I can ...

RE: The AI: suicidal

<t> Like Caltone mentioned, owing to fog of war I'd guess it's possible you shot down as few as 15 of his planes (but probably more than that). And furthermore, I'd say the AI won this particular battle. In my estimation a fleet carrier is worth a lot more than even 131 bombers.<br/>

But you ...
