RE: Best starting country/scenario for a beginner?

<t> May I suggest starting as Great Britain? Not many provinces to have to administer and a very high quality army that will allow you to fight some battles and do well even if you make some mistakes. Also, the superior RN will be able to protect you from any of the continental bad guys should you ...

RE: How to lower waste;

<t> YES! This is a great idea. A real reason to build up courts in more than one area, and a great way to reduce the impact of waste. Although perhaps it might be better to simply reduce waste rather than totally eliminate it in areas with 5+ courts. I can easily get my British to have every ...

RE: New Leader Generated

Lots of battles with England, no new leaders -- and in the 1792 Campaign you really could use them.

RE: COG Mods

<t> Could you post that mod, please? I like starting in 1792 and playing a looooong campaign. The only drawback has been that the "great" leaders do not show up, so I have started to play the 1796 campaign. If you have included the appearance of the commanders in the 1792 campaign, that would be ...

Lancer production problem

<t> In my latest game as Britain in the 1792 Campaign I wanted to build a lancer unit to see how they function. I tried to build it in London which has the requisite barracks. I had all the necessary resources, clicked on Build, saw that Lancers were listed and were highlighted in black so I clicked ...

Are Riflemen and Light Infantry actually Infantry?

<t> The reason I ask this is because in my latest 192 Campaign as Britain I devoted as many of my upgrades to improving infantry as possible (Double Line Formation, Divisional Artillery, etc.). With such a small population base, combined with the surplus of materials my developed economy produced, I ...

RE: How do we defaet adjacent countries????

<t> I am having the same problem with Lisbon, except the other way around - I am the English. For some reason, Lisbon is holding out forever, even when blockaded. I am not experiencing these problems with any other city, nor is the AI as it takes Gibralter faster than I can capture Lisbon. Very ...

Treaty problems

<t> Ran into a quandry and was hoping for some help by the experts. My British just forced the Spanish to surrender. The Spanish had obtained Portugal as a protectorate early in the game, but I wanted to own it for my political victory conditions. I could not find a provision on the treaty screen ...

It was said that if there were any woods on a battlefield, they would be full of (irregular) Cossacks in hiding; not as an ambush, but out of fear.[:D]

RE: Adjustment to be made to Raleighs tip guide

<t> Regarding line depth, only the British had troops of sufficient training in rapid fire and reloading to be able to make use of two men deep line formations. Almost everyone else, including the French, used three deep line formations. This was not a question of skill, bravery or morale. It was a ...

RE: Op fire at moving subs

<t> When I play the Axis, WA planes always op fire at my subs and damage or destroy them. When I play the WA, German u-boats just pass through straights with aircraft adjacent, and right through sea zones with my carriers/CAG present and never suffer an op fire. Is this just an advantage given to ...

RE: Where are the South Africans

<t> IIRC, Canada had the second largest Navy at the end of WWII. Granted, I do not think they had anything larger than a destroyer, or maybe light cruiser, but they did have a LOT of them. <br/>

For my part, I would give Eastern Canada more populations points, but limit their builds to ...

Sorry, no prior save. Will see if I can get it repeated, but it is pretty flukey for all the invaders and defenders to be wiped out, leaving no one in the area.

RE: Playing Japan against the AI - strategy?

<t> You seem to be doing things correctly. One of the best ways of securing an auto-victory is to double team the USSR. This will be harder for Japan to do with the new patch, but it is still probably the best option.<br/>

Occupation bug

<t> I had the strangest experience last night. I was playing as Germany and Japan against the AI. At one point the WA invaded the Bonin Islands. I had a milita there and the WA invaded with one militia. The combat result had both militias being destroyed. I then immediately got the occupy or ...

Some thoughts on the new patch (longish)

<t> I tried out the patch by playing the Axis and setting the difficulty level to Challenging.<br/>
<br/>
First, I want to compliment Matrix on a great patch. The WA AI has been improved dramatically. The WA put planes in England to close down the English Channel and then formed two large carrier ...

RE: transport automove problem

<t> I had exactly the same problem. As WA, my transport chain ran past the U.S., past Greenland and ended in the area directly north of Scotland. The Germans took Scotland and I wanted to place a transport just west of England to be able to ship supplies into England. No matter what I tried, the ...

RE: Upcoming Patch Release Notes (unofficial)

<t> These changes are great!<br/>
<br/>
I do have one request, however. While it is nice to have a button to spend remaining production on supply, I often find, especially when I play the WA, that I have a lot of production points that I want to spend on research; often much more than I spend on ...
