Well if they were substantial they would have kept carrier repairs there...but every thing I read they all went back to the UK for major repairs and overhaul. Pearl Harbor was a great forward asset for the USN but they always had to keep in mind not to swamp it's limited yard space with too many repair jobs.
That is where port size would allow or disallow a repair.
Pearl would be more difficult to handle..they only had so much space which is why many of the ships went to the west coast for major repairs, including all the CVs.
I do not want things to get overly complicated but when the US capture Truk they should not be able to be repairing their entire navy there. Nor should the Japanese for that matter.
