Then again, I also tell men to bring their ladies flowers and chocolates for no reason. Maybe even some wine as well. Some of them reply that the woman will think that they did something wrong. I reply "When she finds out that you didn't do anything wrong, then what!?" They tend to remain silent. The only thing is, please wait until the funeral is over and the mourners have left the graveyard to nick any flowers!
I first met the flower lady of Itaewon in 1993. She'd do a few circuits of all the pubs in the area each evening. If you know what a juicy bar is, you'll understand she did pretty well at those. Before cell phones, if you were looking for a buddy in the neighborhood, she could tell you which establishment he was enjoying at the moment. I didn't buy much from her, but she did put three daughters through college selling flowers. I got married 10 years ago and suddenly I had more reasons to buy from her, like when I spent a bit too long on the pints. Ten bucks bought a lot of peace of mind from the missus. Sadly, I haven't seen the flower lady in about five years. I hope she's doing well.

How's that for a thread derailment?

Anyway, I'm in the camp of this update will happen when it happens. I spent a year in high school checking the mailbox every day waiting for a mail order Campaign for North Africa to come in, and of course it was over a year late. Thanks SPI.

Cheers,
CB
Excellent derailment!

I remember Itaewon flower ladies but not a specific one. Maybe she franchised. I have fond, fond memories of Itaewon and it's fine establishments in the '80s and early '90s. Hard to believe but it had mellowed considerably by '90.
Oh there's a street running up a hill which used to be lined with bars. What's the name of that hill?

Ah, the memories. Just think, soon (Matrix has it, two or three weeks?) the long wait for this patch will just be a memory too!

I'm still waiting for my copy of Jutland from Avalon Hill. I wonder if the money order I paid with is still valid if the bank that printed it is long gone.

That could possibly be a good game to computerize.

So would Tobruk, especially to cut down on the die rolls . . .
I still remember Road To Moscow in late 90's

Yes, I heard stories about how it was before 1993. Good times. I recently did a rare flyby of the hill in question and believe it or not, there were still two establishments that appeared to offer the usual "services."

There were a few flower ladies, but one was particularly friendly to us, like it was more than just a way to make money. I think she went into retirement during Covid as the government here variously had 8, 9 and 10 p.m. bar curfews, with only basement speakeasies open after that. No doubt the best time for sales in that business is after 10 p.m.

I have been checking regularly for the new patch. We have been waiting for the patch for so long that I forgot why I was waiting for it in the first place. Other than the revised map, are these the changes that everyone is having kittens about? Is there another change log that outlines more substantial changes? From this list the only change of any consequence is the death of training pilots and "do you really want to disband this TF (Y/N)".

In the spirit of Zov's earlier heart attack post, I shall be grateful for what I have, and I will sleep well knowing my pilots in training are safe from evil coders who want to do them harm.

Code Changes
1. Naval support not present at 0(0) port once port is built up
2. Another underway ammo replenishment issue if AE unable to reload the biggest weapon on
ship
3. Drawing ship a/c from pool at base uses replacement group if nearby
4. Tweak what is an 'instructor' for TRACOM purposes and allow casualties to them
5. Tweak group training mission not getting many op losses for low experience pilots
(increased fatigue of low experienced pilots and aircraft)
6. Aircraft upgrading to blank airframe
7. Mines not removed from ships in non-ML taskforce
8. Repair/maint of seaplane not expending supply (1 point per plane from tender supply if more
than seaplane support at base). Exceeding support did expend normal supply.
9. Added confirmation to ‘Disband TF’ button

Yes this is the only list from the last beta. No new list for the upcoming beta has been released.

I agree, this whole thread should just be shut down and the patch forgotten about until it is actually released. It was probably too ambitious from the start. Did we really need to change the map? Then we had a 50 post thread over whether it should take two mouse clicks to disband a TF. JFC.

Now I await a PM from either Gen Patton or Matrix telling me to "show respect."

I pressed N and nothing happened. So I tried Y and again, nothing. Bug?

To add my Senf to this topic, I had almost zero problems w/ disbanding TFs... so I vote for leave this like it was.
I understand some may have accidently disbanded TFs - but then deal with it and pay more attention next time

Btw. I sometimes write stuff that might sound critical, but I know that this version is a BETA, so I do not complain!
The only one who is to fault is myself (cuz I chose to use this BETA patch - not official, which ofc has lots of probs and the next official patch will be better and also the last one). So I thanks to the ppl working on it! :) As I said in my other post this game needs mostly only "streamlining", fixing/editing the remaining issues and better UI/ A....scripts like RJ pointed out... Btw. does Gary look a bit like Leslie Nilson  :?:

Let's hope we don't have zombie units spawning throughout China. Or air units disappearing. Or another 500 database fixes.

Hey, in for a penny, in for a pound. Whatever it takes at this point, knowing it won't ever be perfect and I'm OK with that.
Looking forward to the release.
