Are you sure the FBD/HQ wasn't displaced on it's own by another enemy unit moving adjacent? Hard to imagine how a HQ would be impacted by other units displacing, but willing to look into it if you have a repeatable save.
well i would like to but for some reason i cant attach the save files. it just says: "Invalid file extension: Save turn 008 8-10-1941 Ax.sav"

and yes i am sure there was no enemy unit moving adjacent because it happend in my turn and i could see it happening

Air Groups (Units) - Experience (Exp), Morale (Mrl) and Fatigue (Fat) question.

i wonder when to Rest my air groups -
WitW Tips PDF wrote:Check often the Air Groups under Commander’s Report: put in “Rest” those units that have high
fatigue (over 12-15); and return to duty those that have recovered.
also, for the initial border battles (and everything tactical, GS and CAP) my Messerschmitts don't need their drop tanks, right? -
WitW Tips PDF also wrote:[...]generally don't use drop tanks on German fighters. [...] you don't
want them flying a long way to intercept (more fatigue, probably less chance to intercept if
farther away). The fighters seem to have plenty of targets without the extra range.
... does this info hold true in WitE2 as well? - :|
again, same PDF wrote:Always watch your Morale Level. It should always be at least equal to your
Experience Level. If Morale is not at least equal then set the Air Unit to Rest. Fatigue is also
deadly. Rest "cures" low Fatigue and low Morale. If your pilots are not ready do not send them
up. Let the Infantry take the pain until your fighters are ready.
:?: Air Groups Fatigue - when to REST? what is the magic number to watch out for? ... like WitW, over 12-15 (Fatigue)?
btw, here's this fatigue-summary for ground units: https://forums.matrixgames.com/viewtopi ... 3#p4815453 - trying to collect some info for air units as well ...

(alas ... yep, i'm still having fun with my T1 exercises but man, it's so damn interesting!) :)

IMO it's a trade off between their combat performance and them actually being able to escort their bombers, esp if your conducting deep raids.

true, it's a trade-off ... and yeah, those deep raids will come a little later - and again, trade-offs will reign. :)

In WitE2 the drop tank loadout for single-engine fighters is removed quickly, already T2/3 or so, and is only supposed to help your T1 bombings (smth like this).

I suspect this is more specific to WITW where you have strategic bombers doing very long distance, intense raids that raise their fatigue high enough that they might not be recovered the next turn. I don't think I've experienced anything similar in WITE2?

i'm still in Axis/T1 and have both eyes on my air groups' fatigue level. next to fatigue i throw an weather eye on % traveled and as of right now there's only one group (LB stab with only 1 pilot, who's already on rest) who has over 20(23) fatigue with a 100% mileage. i guess i'll have to wait and see ... this air war is something for sure - wow! :)

i try to keep GS at a minimum(nothing?) for my border battles - need them later, i'm sure.

so, fighter CAP is all i'm thinking atm and i really like them(my Emils and Friedrichs) to take down all these juicy bombers without their escort - yay! but don't want to burn them out neither ... :geek:

that's why i asked. heya, WitE2 is out since 2021 and there got to be some consensus on magic numbers for when to rest air groups, not?
fatigue, right - all this plays together with experience and morale of the air groups/pilots and then there's national morale, too to keep an eye on ...
hey, i know, T1 and all ... right?!

... but then again, it's all to tempting to throw out a question or two, mixed in with some numbers from an old tips pdf - you know ... to lure the rock ... ;)

For the Soviets fatigue is irrelevant coz they get shot down before they have a chance to get tired.
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.

If I'm being honest my cue to rest fighters has always been numbers, for example when I see 20 or less fighters out of a group of 40 I put them on rest.

that's alright i guess, going by the numbers ... when i see two pilots, i'd put them on rest, at least for a while ... :D

Generally I would trust a WitW community tip regarding air (if it still works the same way in WitE2). People there had thousands of sörties to watch and figure out why their bombers didn't fly.
But as Sammy said it also was another set of missions. ...But I would propose this also being the case but noone realizing/care anymore in WitE2. :D
Like, you will occasionally have the one combat GS where for whatever reason there will not be some set/number/type of your/enemy planes present (for some reason). This can be observed in bad weather especially, but in how far fatigue and weather can be compared in this regard I don't know. Now you'd have to question whether you want/can affort the whole AG to not fly for a turn or if you are fine if there randomly only being halve as many planes flying at times.

And anyways, how much(if any) does REST improve/speed up Fatigue recovery in the first place (any specific info in WitW on that?)?
And in which Phase(s) does it help?

As GS only player you can put all on REST during your Air Phase as an example. If you fly Recon, just wake those up that you need.

yes, thanks for your comment.

regarding "GS only - REST during Air Phase" - yep, i'll try to set transport, recon, LBs directly to Luftflotte commands and keep fighters and TacB on the Fliegerkorps.
keeping them separate should do the trick for air phase resting ... let's wait and see. REST should recover fatigue based on what's written in the manual ( i hope ...)
Living Manual 1.35, 16.7. PILOTS wrote:[...] If the air group unit is set to rest, or undertakes no air mission, then all accumulated fatigue will be removed. If the unit has taken part in air missions fatigue will be reset to 25% of the total and this will be carried over into the next turn. [...]
but hey, i'm sure you already read this ... :)

... fascinating problems ahead! :D

Yes, that's why I am asking if it helps any further if you do not fly at all or if some planes wouldn't fly anyways -as if you had an AD with 24 Sorties but a AG with 40 planes. (speaking at a GS only perspective [+Recon+Transports])
