RE: Some scenario design help please

Unhappy - I used to have this scenario but its been a good 5 years.
I think you have most of the info I can remember being in the scenario, except I remember the british forces had a decent battleship group as well.

<t> Was just cleaning up various piles of junk that I've had since I first moved out of home and what do I find?<br/>
<br/>
My original Carriers at War II manual!<br/>
<br/>
Buggered if I know what I did with the floppy disks, but the manual has all the ship and plane data for just about every ...

Thanks Alex!
&nbsp;
Not to try to be a problem, but the sqn transfer issue also affects carrier squadrons too (not sure if fixing one will fix the other).

<t> Quick update having played a couple more times:<br/>
1) This issue is still here.<br/>
3) Runs fine now. Probably just me...<br/>
&nbsp;<br/>
And a new one:<br/>
5) In the task group status screen you can't close it using the little "x" in the top right. You need to close it by hitting the ...

RE: Victory Conditions???

Ok, so the transports would not be in the area (and hence the scenario) if any jap surface forces were still alive anywhere near them. Sounds reasonable enough!

RE: Victory Conditions???

<t> Just on that, I've noticed in both Phillipene Sea and Tarawa the japanese navy starts so far away from the combat zone that it is a physical impossibility to stop the landings (the land based air is usually as effective as the australian rugby forward pack) - the best you can do is engage the ...

RE: Victory Conditions???

<t> Having played predominantly as the japs, I think the VPs are ok. The US is so vastly superior in these scenarios that the default outcome is basically a US victory in real terms. So a US victory should basically count as a draw. If the Japs actually manage to kill something, they have done ...

Carnage at Tarawa...

<t> I just finished my first game with the new patch beta and it was fantastic. I played as the Japanese in Tarawa, with a Mystery variant selected.<br/>
<br/>
Day 1-2:<br/>
Reviewing my forces I find I have two decent strength carrier groups (even with decent aircrew!) and two powerful surface ...

Patch 1.02B things...

<t> Thanks very much for the chance to test the new patch! <br/>
<br/>
Found it really good, especially Tarawa, but there were a few things I thought I should raise. Note this is from playing 1 scenario of Tarawa in "Mystery Variant" as Japan.<br/>

1) Landbase squadron transfer does not ...

I've lost capitals&nbsp;to subs before (worst was losing two japanese BC in Midway to the one sub) but never managed to lose a carrier.

RE: Yamato class BBH vs Avenger Torpedo Bombers

Hmm. Well these were almost simultaneous. I think yamato took two hits in one volley then a third 5 min later, while Musashi took its two from one attack run. May have just been luck - will replay the scenario and see how we go.

Yamato class BBH vs Avenger Torpedo Bombers

<t> Hi,<br/>
<br/>
I was just wondering how powerful the Avenger torpedo bomber hits compared to other torpedo planes?<br/>
<br/>
I just played the Phillipene Sea scenario (the Raise the Dead variant), and was suprised when Yamato was sunk by only three torpedo hits. To prove this wasn't just ...

RE: Launch Cycle

<t> Just on this, I've noticed that planes seem to move through the various stages of launching and recovering pretty quickly. <br/>
&nbsp;<br/>
You can track their progress on the carrier screen and use the "run 5" button. It seems like planes cycle through the fuel - arm - launch - formup phases ...
