Lost a CV: What to do with air fragments

Hi guys,

Hornet went done, some fragments of her air group evacuated to a nearby base. The main units show up as destroyed. Is there a way to rebuild the main unit or to turn the fragment into the main unit?

Thanks!

RE: If I were King for a day...

<t> I am usually playing the allies against ai. My units usually end up all over the place, meaning SoPac units in Port Moresby, SwPac units in the pacific and so on. This happens because otherwise I am basically forced to follow the historic strategy and timetable, e.g. attack Guadalcanal when it ...

RE: Which allied ships upgrade to what?

<r> I see your point but the thing is, from mid 1943 onwards I have enough carriers to provide local air superiority anywhere I want so I don't really need fast transports anymore, I can force through large supply TFs under carrier protection. APD's helped me keep Milne supplied, they did a great ...

<t> Yes, I meant conversion, not upgrade, sorry got them mixed upp there. Which allied ships upgrade to what?

Hi guys,

so far I haven't really bothered upgrading allied ships. Is there a comprehensive list of which ship can be upgraded to what, for example which DD to APD, which xAk to AP and so on.

Thanx

Personally, I try to use the HQ associations as realistically as possible.<br/>

If a unit is not attached to a given HQ and I don't have the PPs to make it so, then I do not send it off on adventures in that HQs domain.<br/>

RE: N00b question about Amphib operations

<t> Three more things:<br/>
1) If the place is to far away to control the skies, bring carriers to provide local air superiority. Don't place the carrier TF in the coastal hex where the landing is taking place. Only half of a carrier planes will fly in coastal hexes. Park the carriers in an open ...

RE: N00b question about Amphib operations

<t> 1) Yes, have the bombard TF attack the turn you want to land, add some cruisers to your amphib force, they will surpress the beaches. If you have enough heavy ships you can also have several bombard tf that roll in over several turns.<br/>
2) No, just move it to the target hex and make sure it ...

RE: Question about HQ's and theaters of war

Thanks for the info. I figured it doesn't really matter but wanted confirmation. I might do the same you did and increase pp in the scenario. Only problem is, I do use pp do buy out restricted units and when I upp the pp I might end up buying out more units than I should.

Question about HQ's and theaters of war

<t> Hi guys,<br/>

RE: Where were they heading?

I guess it is a glitch in the AI. Since I found them (north) eastof Peral I was thinking they might be used for refuelling the subs off the west coast but seven AO sounds a bit to many tankers for that purpose

Where were they heading?

<t> I am playing the grand campaign as allies against AI, it is december 20th, 1941. I just sunk a japanese milk cow fleet a little north east of the french frigate shoals. 7 AO + 2 DD. What were they doing there, right in front of my home base? A day earlier, Midway got bombarded by some cap ships ...

<t> So the only way to use the carriers full potential is to add squadrons to a CV. I guess this is kind of historical. AFAIK Marine fighter squadron were sometimes based on carriers. It would have been nice though to find this piece of info somewhere, the manual for instance.<br/>

Have both TFs in the same hex and then click on replenish at sea for the TF you want refueled
