Legends

<t> Guys, I played DW quite a lot beginning of the year and then moved on the other things (work, kids, you know). Now looking to pick it up again and reading some stuff about Legends that make me think I should pick it up as well (already have ROTS).<br/>

+1 to the landscape of space modifiers idea. Would add some variety to space combat to make the positioning of it more strategic.

RE: homage for Igard

I tried playing SR2 a few weeks ago and also couldn't get into it, even though I have great memories of playing it a few years ago. Oh well - as you say - a classic and loads of fun when I did play it. I'll probably give it another try in awhile.

RE: Feeding the colony rush

<t> I like this colony goods approach - historically most colonies have needed support from the motherland before they are able to stand on their own. The game balance consideration would be to determine at which point a colony shifts from needing more imported goods than it produces to becoming an ...

Welcome and enjoy the game. This forum really is the best place to learn from others and their strategies. Lots of good input and suggestions for improvement and regular comments from the devs make it excellent. Plus it's essentially troll-free.

<t> Yes, I'd prefer to see only the research station at the special location get the bonus. Don't like the empire-wide bonus.<br/>

The way I see it, the bonus is due to some special characteristics of the location - e.g. proximity to the black hole enables some crazy research that isn't ...

RE: 'A Space Port in each system'

I'd say that this is somewhat better in the expansion but is still a major issue. One impact of the homeworld too powerful issue is that it makes successful invasion of another empire's homeworld an easy (relatively) way to cripple your opponent.

RE: Future of the series

<t> To return to what Eliott said, I'm happy to hear that there will be at least one more expansion and wonder what will be in that - better diplomacy, personalities/adminrals, in-depth invasions/ground battles, planetary facilities with placement, targetted weapons, finer control over ship combat ...

Very interesting - I'll have to try out this myself in my next game. Unfortunately, won't be for a couple weeks until after some travel done.

Agree with Data. Your philosophy of an "eye for an eye" is inane, childish and ridiculously out of place here. And you're not even following this so-called "school of thought" correctly. You have referred to other posters as "idiots". No one called you an idiot.

I always put a bit of armor with the same reasoning as J HG T. Not logical if it doesn't make any difference, but it makes me feel safer. Which is the whole point of course [:)]

<t> Then we'll have to agree to disagree on this. I would expect contributers to a forum to be able to still understand a sentence of which the meaning is perfectly clear, even with a misplaced piece of punctuation. RE: Taking enemy homeworlds way too easy?

I have Space Rangers 2 and loved that game. Frankly the mini-game RTS of it is my least favourite part of the game, compared to the other parts. Definitely wouldn't want any RTS component to DW.
