This is absolutely NOT a big.

Skirmishes were always an enjoyable part of DW for me.

Accidents happen.

Confrontation happens.

Strategic strikes happen.

Fighting over resources and derelicts happen.

Surprise attacks happen.

Having to arbitrarily declare war in a game is poor design and ...

Besides the obvious modern-day earth connotations concerning slavery, why should it necessarily be a negative diplomatic hit among alien races? Did ancient Rome or Egypt (and most other civilizations) take a hit for slavery? I just bring it up as a sidebar to the discussion as I find it ...

I think you could mod point 1 relatively easily by reducing (or removing) the repair rate of components.

For me shields should recharge but perhaps a bigger delay, so they don't recharge until X time after the last hit. This would require the ship AI understanding it needs to dip in and out of ...

The intelligence gameplay is too isolated from the rest of the game.

It doesn't take into account the distance to the target, the tech level of our and the target empire and the species.
There is also no events for intelligence like those for exploration.

Especially since research will give you specialized hulls of each ship role, like Fast Frigates vs Heavy Frigates vs Fleet Frigates.

Also Retrofit Fleet needs to be adjusted so ships upgrade to the next iteration of their own design instead of just the latest active design for their ship role ...

The freedom, in DWU, to design any ship or base exactly how you wanted, and of any size, is a strength not a weakness.


The one thing I hated with DWU was no hard limit on hull sizes. So an Escort could be massive, which is silly.

I did like the freedom but during beta testing I grew to accept ...

This is correct, send them to the science station with the particular bonus you want to maximise.


Eh, it doesn't matter. All bonuses add up anyway, so there's no benefit from matching scientists to location bonuses. That's an old habit from DW1, when only the highest scientist+location bonus ...
