The worst default setting fail is the fact that we can't permanently change the default settings and have them stay changed once we leave the game. After that the lame default settings come back.

I agree, the random event does add variety and immersion. Sometimes the random events work in your favor and sometimes they don't.

And what I do is just immediately grant the colony independence if it's too far away. No need to use the editor.

I finally figured out the problem. It's ruins that have the lost colony event that tells of a lost colony somewhere far, far away. The problem is that the Artificial Ignorance will send a scout pretty much regardless of distance, if it can reach the colony on a one way mission it'll go investigate ...

After doing some testing and getting some feedback on Steam I found that my problem was a negative private cash on hand number. However I did see a new bug as I could still build resort stations with negative private cash on hand which is wrong since resort stations are built with private cash.

I went into the game editor and found that I could edit my empire color to a nice bright lime green color. Now the ship and base names pop out so easy to read. I'll have to see if I can choose empire color in the game selection screens next time.

Better to manually control tax rates and ship construction. The pathetic automation just does such a poor job of running the economics. A shame the devs won't invest time in improving the pathetic automation instead of wasting time with meaningless pirate garbage.

I'm having difficulty reading ship names in the ship tool tip info box. Incredibly lame to place a name in purple on a dark background, especially so since purple is used as a galaxy background color.
